To the guy asking if it is a pipe dream, yes and no. At this point last year the DB class we signed was a pipe dream and we pulled it off. I think we get 80% of those guys at least which would easily be the best Dline haul outside of 2011 easily in my lifetime as a fan and I’m over 40.

I don't see how we take 2 TEs this class unless we're only taking 2 WRs. With that said, Howard/Hawk would be an incredible TE haul.
I've seen it reported on a few sites and mentioned here on IE that it is very possible we only take two WR's this year. Coleman and Jones might just be the end of it.

Good with 2, will take the right 3. It seems Gayles falls in that category, Cooper does not. Not sure who else would qualify

We took 5 WRs last year and got Porter in the portal. I don’t think WR is a big need right now. And with 105 scholarships now being a thing, if you can get a quality TE to go with Hawk why not. Things will always work themselves out regarding depth later.

Who says Cooper wouldn’t fit into a 3-man class?
I don't think it's been officially said, but the chatter seems to be that they're allocating their resources to the DL/OL and that if he wants a spot it'll be at a discount, which I doubt he will take now that LSU and Ole Miss have recently entered the race

In the ISD article today they pretty much said it

"
For more than a month, I strongly maintained that Pennsylvania receiver Cade Cooper‍ would ultimately end up in Notre Dame’s class. I’m no longer bullish on that happening as it seems the Irish simply preferred Coleman over Cooper for that role for a bigger receiver. After signing five receivers last cycle, there isn’t a huge need for numbers at the position.

So, if I’m guessing today, I’d guess that Cooper lands elsewhere."

As much as i'd love a Malvern kid like Cade Cooper, boundaries are a dime a dozen in the portal. Guys like JJ Jr and Gayles are not. Also Coleman with his size / speed combo has a higher ceiling.

This class rounding out with Olu and Simien would be some nasty work by this staff. Not 1 but 2 true statement recruiting wins at a premium NIL position against major bag schools.

One to keep an eye on at TE per Singer. ND is very optimistic

Yeah, they've done a nice job with Howard from the outset as their pass catching TE, but they've ratcheted up their push (and likely their offer) after their first option, Jaxon Dollar, committed to Georgia. Hawk will be their Y, online guy. They badly want Howard to be their pass catcher.

What's the alphabetic assignment ND uses for WR/TE?

W= Boundary (it gets me so mad)
Z= Slot
X= Field (it gets me so mad)

I think Y is what they use as the TE on the field. I would guess H or F is the other TE in 12 personnel.

Does ND use that or some media members on the ND beat? The depth chart doesn’t have those labels.

forget everything word for word but just saw a rivals show on you tube where they talked to Wiltfong about irish recruiting along with other schools and he said he likes the irish for the 5 star tackle from NJ and thinks he could make a decision within the next week and he also still thinks our irish lead for the 5 star or borderline 5 star DE from PA
