Don't give me that Scottish crap. I've consulted the experts and Atkinson is either Italian or Hungarian

Portal closing Friday right?

I talked to someone yesterday that read we're losing a RB and he heard it was Williams. Anybody post anything on that?

That would suck, but it’s understandable. I wonder if the staff has Payne above him?

Luckily, we have Young and James to fill in if needed.

The only scenario where I think both Williams and Young stay is if they can look past this season and realize they’ll be sharing a very large majority of the snaps in 2026.
This is where losing DMC hurts. Seider's a great coach but Del seemed to have a unique connection to his RB room.
That said, Price is inconsistent and will be gone after this season. Love could well dial it back at some point to protect his health/draft stock. There will be carries for both these guys this year, and then a wide-open field for them in '26. If they haven't portaled by now, what makes us think they leave in the next three days? And where would they go that's better?

Mccollugh did very well with a rotation to get guys plays and action..... Almost to a frustrating point at times when we thought love and price should be getting more touches.

Does the new guy have a similar pedigree of having a decent RB rotation? I know at Penn St last year he had options with their two guys they had, which is similar to our stable currently

I think me wanting Love to get more touches was a pretty vain thought, wanting him to get the stats to be in the Heisman conversation. But I think there is a huge benefit for the long term value of a) having a stable of RBs who are always going to be very fresh late into games and b) not getting too much tread on the tires, which is valuable to NFL GMs. If Love stays healthy and has a repeat of last year's production, he's the first RB off the board and I like our chances of going big game hunting for 2027 RBs. Continued success at the RB position and showing the younger guys that you don't need 20 touches a game to get into the League will be huge for retaining talent, but still will be a challenge.

Watching a few Penn State games besides the one where we played them, he definitely got both Singleton and Allen a good mix of touches/reps. I'm not sure they had a 3rd back get as much run as Williams got for us...but it's also possible he didn't have a third back with Williams' ability to work with.

I thought I saw an interview where he prefers a two back rotation. I personally like a 3 back rotation with the 4-5 guys getting major carries in blowouts.
I think this is his style. Felt like he didn't give a number of rbs that will play but more said he doesn't have the roles like Mccollugh. If memory serves me correctly, I think Mccollugh had like 8 roles and assigned them

Young needs to be the "blowout back". Feed him some steady carries when the team is up by a couple of touchdowns and let him ground out the tough yards needed to kill the clock. No need to put extra mileage and Love and Price unnecessarily.

Williams should be playing a lot regardless hes the best blocker on the team out of all the RB's and hes great in the passing game

A RB will definitely transfer, it's weather it's 2 is the question. If we're being honest, we have to hope it's Payne. Price is too valuable in 2025, and both Williams and Young show all the right signs and have several years left.

Worst case scenario would be Price and Young, IMO.

Irish Illustrated podcast said “maybe” a defensive lineman, a rb, and a defensive back leave. They chalked it up to rumors, and then made it sound like it conjecture, but it seemed like they knew something.
It sounded like someone from the 2 deep might leave based on how they talked.
