I'm guessing it's Bernard Gooden DT from USF was one of the highest graded DT's according to PFF last seasons had 35 QB pressures, 2 sacks, 35 tackles and 2 batted passes and 2 fumble recoveries. Looks like he would have 2 years left.

I've seen conflicting info regarding how many year he has left. He redshirted and then had to sit out a year, and I'm not sure if the year he sat out when he previously transferred counted.

To add, would Atkinson want to come to ND and play 20 snaps a game?

ND didn't want this information out there because it may chase away another edge player that they didn't want to risk losing. They have scouted Atkinson and have had conversations with him because he is a productive edge, and they would absolutely add him to the DL room. The staff was being covert in case someone from the DL room, whether it's one or two players, now decides to enter the portal because they feel they're being recruited over from the portal. Atkinson is not the only player they've scouted and are talking to. Again, it's because they're in the business of trying to win a championship while also trying to not chase their own guys away.

To add, where do you play him? Are you taking away some of Burnham's snaps? Young's?

Atkinson's has good stats, but most of his sacks and pressures came against two teams. One with a notorious bad OL last year (FSU).

You're overhyping him. He's not good enough to displace someone else in the rotation, like Burnham or Young.
