Yeah one of the most wrong I have been on a prospect. Coaches were super high on him and he ended up flat out not being able to play. Just wasn't athletic enough despite having elite size/speed/frame for guard.I thought Chan was gonna be something when he signed. Dude was huge. Didn't know he had all the agility of a cinder block.
Here is some footage of Chan in High School..the potential is limitless at WR...cant be stoppedI heard he was a punter in HS as
If he didn't win the job, absolutely. Just in general though the reason ND ended up with zero Top 50 consensus recruits is that we are flat out not paying anything close to market rate for HS players right now. Meanwhile Michigan shelled out $13M for a QB, Bama outbid a bunch of people for Taylor, etc.Even if they landed Deuce in this class, Deuce would be the first person to enter the 2026 Transfer Portal.
Just to play Devil's advocate...is the reason we were so successful this year though was that we paid enough of our older guys to stay? Almost the Purdue basketball model...basically saying an X Watts is not somebody would have ever paid in HS if that makes any sense. If he didn't win the job, absolutely. Either that course corrects or ND is simply not going to ever land another top national prospect. You can't sell good coaching and education anymore when people are making NFL money in college.
So essentially great team players are the girls great personalities or with huge tracts of land. They were great team players. Unfortunately, great team guys are going to get passed up if the program is contending. Kudos to them for sticking out their degrees, hopefully they can stay healthy and get a chance to show out their final years.

This will be my Ty Chan as a QB costume for HalloweenCan you imagine a 6'5 330 lb WR?
This is why you can’t get on Brown about WR recruiting you can only do so much if the top guys want money and we aren’t handing it outIf he didn't win the job, absolutely. To play devil's advocate, there's no way Deuce would win the starting job as a freshman. If he started next year for ND, he's so raw that they'd be lucky to finish .500 and he wouldn't have a backup at the position because Carr/Minchey/Angeli would have all dipped. If he didn't win the job, absolutely. The issue is that the team that beat us in the NCG is doing both. They spent a lot of money retaining their roster, but they're also getting five stars to replace those guys when they leave.

This is simply an outsider's perspective but the problem with ND not spending top money (if that is true) has nothing to do with them not having the money. ND seems to be afraid of appearing like a football factory. There was a lot of talk about Ohio State spending $20 million on their roster. They don't care and are probably proud of the fact they paid that much. Feels like ND would be mortified if they had that label. NIL is just the latest example of them not wanting to lead the way and appearing to care too much about football. Getting the NC game is kind of a double sword. Shows that they really don't need to throw top dollars around to compete.I am once again asking ND to make it easy for fans to contribute to NIL - especially to help retain the guys that we know can produce.
ND spent 15 mil on the roster per O'Malley of Irish IllustratedThis is simply an outsider's perspective but the problem with ND not spending top money (if that is true) has nothing to do with them not having the money. Both are true.Brady Quinn claimed to some TV commentator that Notre Dame competes successfully with everyone on the money side, and does not lose players they want because of that. I don't know if that's true, but he seemed very near to being visually pissed off when the guy made those allusions.
This is wrong and do not care what O'Malley says.ND spent 15 mil on the roster per O'Malley of Irish Illustrated
I thought Omalley said it was around the 9 million range. The random poster on 247 is the only one I've seen that has said it was more. This is wrong and do not care what O'Malley says.
Idk what is true anymore. Multiple people have said Tim said $15mil.I thought Omalley said it was around the 9 million range. The random poster on 247 is the only one I've seen that has said it was more.
All that matters is its not enough.Idk what is true anymore. Multiple people have said Tim said $15mil.
Maybe people are sharing the same bad rumor?
Brice has said $7-9
He said this on Greg McElroy's podcast, if anyone wants to listen to it. But he didn't provide a specific number or say that "we're close to 20 million," it was more of a general "ND competes with the top teams in NIL" point.Brady Quinn claimed to some TV commentator that Notre Dame competes successfully with everyone on the money side, and does not lose players they want because of that. Exactly. All that matters is its not enough.
Hopefully Bowden handed Carnell Tate a million in cash and told him "get in my car, we are heading to south bend".Exactly.
It's the new equivalent of signing an 8-12 ranked recruiting class.
Need to be top 5 recruiting and top 5 NILing
i read this inappropriatelyWho is going to E the P from OSU?
