I was lumping the lack of QB get into my bust talk as well. Everyone else in the playoffs is set at QB next year...except ND. But agaaaaain I trust Freeman so let's see what happens.
They are?
Ohio State, probably Texas, Georgia, and Oregon are all replacing their starting QBs. Indiana, too, if we want to go deeper into playoff teams. Bama and Ole Miss if we want to include near-misses. Even with Penn State I know Allar says he's coming back but there's enough of a question that he's still showing up on draft boards.
Some of their backups are more proven than others - Arch Manning and Dante Moore would be nice to have in your pocket for sure - but I note none of those programs seem to be portal-shopping for a QB either.

Anyone saying Fields isn't a home run just doesn't watch football outside of ND ... imagine having Jimmy clausen freshman oline, and Andrew hendrix at qb and still put up the numbers he did... he can stretch the field, contested catches and is athletic as hell.....

Fields put up 800 yards in 2023 and was the second option on the team and then put up 800 again both with an awful QB he should be a go to guy who you can throw it up to and go get it. IDK if he will have 800 at ND just because we are going to have a great RB room again but it will be nice to have a go to stud. Him and Faison should cause matchup problems for teams, need Greathouse to get going or someone else to step up.

This is the funny the the portal does when Purdue TE Max Klare is big time lmao. He’s a fine TE. A lot of his Purdue teammates are fine too. Let’s relax on calling the big time players. Holden Staes was big time for a portal TE too.
Max Klare is big time because he produced heavily in an anemic offense, and was also the 2nd most productive TE behind Warren in the B10 over Loveland. Staes career over 3 years doesn't compare to Klare this past season. Staes has the tools and potential to be a very good TE but perhaps he needs to sit down somewhere for more than a year and learn an offense. Klare is #1 at TE and I believe a top 25 portal target, while Staes is #3 and around 140-150 overall, relatively quite a dropoff.

Exaggerating a bit much are we?? Clausen's line from FR year and Colandrea is Hendrix?? Well Fields is Malcolm Johnson not Michael Floyd a SOLID wr but not a typical title contender #1, he's a good #2. Seems we're lowering the bar at WR when we need to do the opposite, which has shown in recruiting.

I trust him alot but until we get some "dynamite" on the outside the offense will be stagnant against the better defenses. With just "good" QB play with our plethora of possession guys if we can get a Fuller type (maybe Cam Williams) and a couple of legit run stuffers the team is set for another huge run.

Fields would be number 1 on 90% of teams in college if you think we are gonna go out and get a Jeremiah Smith or something it aint happening.

I honestly had no clue you liked legit speed for our outside guys. To be frank, I'm completely caught off guard by this and it completely mind blowing to me. If we are being honest with each other.

Getting paid at OSU (Wilson) or UGA (Branch) along with LSU and Ole Miss and Texas (shaw) sounds like a lot of the studs are leaving for both.
Yeah, like the dawgs need another guy that will just be blanketed by ND

Incredibly disingenuous to list the guy who we actually may take last when he is clearly head and shoulders better than the others. Come on man.

I listed him last because 247 doesn't even have him listed so not sure where he would rank but I'd put him above all those guys

Transfer rankings are incredibly dumb and if I see them referenced one more goddamn time, let alone before our season even ends, I may just have a brain aneurysm.

Yup. They are caught in there “method” of theoretically projecting to the NFL and their HS rankings being a reference point versus clear better actual production. There is also no sample size to say they are accurate by any metric. They should not be used for anything besides a handy list

They only do the rankings for clicks, I doubt they want to undertake it even

There needs to be like two tiers of transfer rankings - proven upperclassmen and unproven underclassmen. Combining and trying to rank the 2 together is just idiotic.
