I have the apparently unpopular intuition that, if he's healthy, I'd like to see Denbrock hand the keys to Carr.

Then let him roll the Rolls Royce for at least two years. (winning one NC during that period with Williams and Young and a bunch of difficult to deal with very mean linemen.) All these other daydreams have their attractions, but a bit of home-grown stability seems a very good thing, even recruiting-wise.

All I know is Alabama fans will be rejoicing if Milroe leaves them. Is their perception right or wrong? I don’t know but he wasn’t doing something right this year and Alabama had some elite wr talent.

Texas currently has 14 rushing yards vs Arizona St. If ND gets Ewers this is going to take away touches for Love. I am with Old Man Mike, Carr is the future. ND can spend their 6 million elsewhere.

Denbrook loves to throw too. Ewers might be too great a temptation for him.

Only 4 qualified P5 QBs both completed and attempted (as a % of total throws) more Intermediate throws and are returning in 2025 than Milroe.

Mendoza (Cal to IU) is the only in the portal. Kevin Jennings (SMU) is only other one prior mentioned here. All 4 played in the Big 12 or ACC (Retzlaff from BYU and Bailey from NC State remaining)

The real throw I wanna know if you can make if I am looking for a QB, is the slot fade. We’ve seen glimpses of it this year but it’s Denbrock’s favorite thing by far to run that he picked up at LSU that Shock concept. The short hitch paired with a slot fade.

Leonard is 47% on boundary throws over 10 yards. Daniels was an absurd 65%

Yeah Daniels might not be a good comparison. He looks like he'll be an MVP in the league in a few years. So he might be an outlier

Strange situation tho' -- What if Ewers leads TX to a national championship or at least to a spot in the championship game? Then you just hand it over to a guy with little experience because he's a Manning... I'm sure his family has exerted their weight to make sure this happens in 2025, and that's a reality. But man, if I were Ewers, I would use that to fuel me to come back with another team (ND?) to try and win it all a year from now.

I think he takes them to the natty he then goes pro. But, I don’t think they can beat Oregon or OSU. So, he’ll be Irish next year😉

So… how much do we pony up to get JJ Smith? Just wondering.
I know this was tounge in cheek, but if you’re Carnell Tate do you really sign up for two more years of playing second fiddle to Calvin Johnson 2.0
He’d probably go south, but would be interesting.

I’m very surprised that they don’t have more transfers from the OSU WR room. There is only 1 ball to go around and I agree playing second fiddle to megatron. Wonder what they are selling those WRs.

Agree. The reality is teams can support multiple WRs. Washington did it last year with Odunze-Polk-McMillan.

Being pass heavy offense that consistently puts receivers into the league helps.
They've proven they can get multiple guys drafted in the first round even in the same draft class.

They’ve lost 2 former top WR recruits in 3 of the last 4 years so they get the number of losses you’d expect. Just only Jameson Williams has really burned them so far and he wasn’t gonna play anyways

Hard Pass.
There is nothing at all that Riley Leonard is currently doing that Milroe couldnt also do. Milroe throws a better deep ball and is an insanely dynamic runner. Milroe regressed big time this year because he has a coach that does not play to his strengths. Our offense would be nuts with our line and backs and Milroe in Denbrocks offense

Milroe regressed big time this year because he has a coach that does not play to his strengths.

So according to you neither Bill O'Brien (2021-2022), Tommy Rees (2023), or Nick Sheridan (2024), who have ALL developed NFL QBs,, were smart enough to tailor their various offenses to Milroe's strengths?

Regressed? Saban benched him last year!

Our offense would be nuts with our line and backs and Milroe in Denbrocks offense

Our offense with Milroe would continue to be a 20yd offense b/c HE CANNOT STRETCH THE FIELD VERTICALLY THROWING THE BALL. Since he can't, defenses would throw numbers into the box and take their chances with a guy who has PROVEN that he's not accurate and cannot read defenses at game speed.

Did you watch the game yesterday? Overhead replay repeatedly showed Alabama had guys open downfield and Milroe would stand in the pocket and pat the ball until running.

Part of the reason Denbrock had success with Jayden Daniels running the ball was........(wait for it!)...........Daniels could read a defense and was a highly accurate passer so defenses HAD to play off the LOS b/c of fear of getting beat over the top. That fear freed up underneath space for LSU RBs and Daniels to run for easy yards. Milroe hasn't shown either of those Daniels traits but you assume that opposing defensive coordinators would defend him as if he were Daniels just because.....................

If you actually want to grow NDs offense Ewers is a much better fit than Milroe. Ewers has issues but he can push the ball downfield. Defenses HAVE to respect that and take guys out of the box and drop them into coverage. That would open inside running lanes for Love, Price and the other ND RBs.

Tennessee has like 6 receivers in the portal. Kind of weird.

As it relates to Matthews, there's rumors that Nico's comments spooked Matthews that Nico could leave. Other rumors that DB Boo Carter supposedly pulling a "Travis Hunter" and playing both ways next year had something to do with it.
Sounds like Tennessee is taking advantage of holiday downtime - where Matthews late Saturday TP paperwork can take all the way until end of day tomorrow (1/2) to complete processing - to convince Matthews to stay. This should be clarified tomorrow. College football insider drops update on Tennessee Vols WR Mike Matthews on New Year's Eve

I dont even understand most of what you’re saying, or maybe its you who doesnt know what you are saying.

The guy played like 5 snaps all year as a true freshman under O’brien.

He then finished 6th in the Heisman voting last year for fuck’s sake. 23 TDs vs 6 picks with a QBR over 177. Another 12 rushing TDs. He was benched early in the season then was extremely good once he took the starting position back. Bamas o-line was also pretty weak last year. He has regressed this year in an offense that did not play to his strengths and really lacked an identity.

Cant stretch the field vertically?? Even his biggest critics will admit he throws one of the prettiest deep balls in college right now. Stretching the field vertically is far from an issue with him.

The guy has put up 35+ total TDs in back to back years now, and again…finished 6th in the Heisman voting last year. Yea, definitely someone I dont think Denbrock could do something with.

I’m convinced you have no idea what you are talking about. Oh and also, if you watch every game from overhead, every QB misses open receivers in college. He’s not perfect, but he would be dynamic in Denbrocks offense. He is Riley Leonard in steroids.

By the way, he has the same QBR as Ewers this season but Quinn doesnt have almost 800 rushing yards to go with it. Ewers had a Sark offense to run though, and Milroe had a discombobulated mismatched Kalen DeBoer offense.
