We need to get away from going after 6’4 230 lb guys and trying to add weight to them it doesn’t work out then ruins the kid. Brenon Vernan being one. Teams like Bama, Georgia, A&M bring in 5-6 6’4 300-320 guys every year

Legit forgot he was on the team. What happened to him? And can he play against Georgia?

I wouldn’t say under recruited. We have 4 dt’s that are still working on their craft.

Maybe just four misses

I meant that under recruiting players that can play in their first two years on campus. Recruiting projects are fine but they cannot be the first choice.

Nice catch! I see he popped up in the portal today. I've watched him last year and this year, including AAC Championship game and he is a solid TE who makes key catches. Great fit coming from Tulane. Only fly in the ointment may be that he wants to rejoin Willie Fritz and Slade Nagle (who just moved there under Fritz as OC in last few weeks) at Univ. of Houston. Nagle specifically has an OC/TE coach background. We'll see...

This is just a flat out lie. These schools do NOT bring in 5-6 300-320lb DL a year. In fact, they brought in 1 total DL over 300lb between the three schools combined in the 2025 class.

If ND goes to the portal for a TE, I think what they really need is an in-line blocker. It’s reasonable to expect one of Flanagan or Raridon to take a step forward as a receiver.

I was being sarcastic but they are all bringing in at least 2 6’2-6’4 260-280 lb guys a year we can’t even get one

But Freeman has picked some high character guys so we’ll see if he can do it again.

Guy was a 5* DE at one point but staff thought he was better suited to play DT due his "potential" size, I believe he's around 6'5 275lbs right now and seems lost in the shuffle. I remember at one point they didn't think he had enough pass rush moves to be an end and not enough strength to play DT.
