Denbrock is going to need to do a helluva job selling to any WR that we can get them the ball. with the O line and RB stable we have returning with a first time starting QB, gotta think we'll be a run heavy offense. I worry some of the jewels of the portal class will see that and go to more pass happy offenses

Doesn't help when Kris Mitchell came here and had 1,000 yards last year and not do much here this year.

These are the stats, not my opinion. 83rd in passing yards and 73rd in attempts. That’s going to be somewhat of a hard sell.

How someone sees it as a good opportunity and some of our guys step up.

With Riley leaving, and a less mobile qb taking over next year… those passing numbers SHOULD increase.

Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas seemed to do just fine in his offense. Not that hard a sell. It's a personnel thing but a scheme thing.
Agree. Tell them it was run heavy because we didn't have that difference making WR.

But they're not going to get that offense at ND with Coach Freeman insisting on a more 90's style offense that about power and run first and because of that good WR's don't want to come here.

Me personally I want to see a fluid offense that's more or less a 50/50 split that ebbs and flows rather than being locked into one way to play the game. I believe that sometimes less is more and believe the running game would significantly improve which is saying alot when your top 2 he's have a 7+ God if they got away from being a run first offense.

Seriously everyone knows that ND is going to run the ball and they still put up great numbers and that's great and I know some will just keep running until they stop you and that's fine but when that happens what's next? That's where the problem lies because no there is no chance for the passing game as they no you have to pass now but the fact is that is they could pass it well when the defense wasn't ready for the pass.

The RB room is ridiculous and with the depth and experience that the O line got this year and with the talent returning next season probably makes the one of the best if not the best in college next season. Combine that with unpredictable offense that plays fast and takes advantage of there athleticism and the rushing numbers could get cartoonish IMO.

Seriously look at what Love and Price did with a loaded box and still ran for 7+ God and just imagine the numbers they could put up if defenses had to play honest do to they threat of getting burnt in the passing game.

That's why ND needs to offer top-tier WR's that hit the portal the biggest bag. Programs like Miami and Oklahoma have proven, whether it's HS recruits or players in the portal, that on-field success or success at that particular position can be meaningless if you offer the biggest bag. They've signed several HS recruits and portal players that they had no business getting, given their on-field performance, because they dropped the biggest bag.

hes a Purdue legacy, some folks think he will just take his name out of the portal if he likes the new Head Coach hire
Maybe he’s tired of losing. ND has gotten plenty of Purdue legacies over the years (Kiser for one.)

Is there any word on who Notre Dame has been in contact with? I think the portal officially opens in 4 days.

Nothing. Just speculation. Freeman is likely going to keep that stuff under wraps. Looking back to last year, most times were only knew about a target if a commitment was imminent. WRs was a little different but I think Freeman wanted to put that stuff out there. Showing the media, fans and rest of college football that ND was going after WRs to pair with Leonard.
