IF Minchey would beat out Carr (and Angeli) next year, do you think that Carr would stick around hoping that he would beat out Minchey the following year? If he stuck around and never beat out Minchey, he would have one year to lead the Irish. I'm skeptical that scenario would ever come to pass.

If I'm Carr, I can make it in the NFL with 1-2 really good college seasons. Minchey being the starter next year does nothing to change that.

And if he leaves because of it, well...bye. The best players should play. If Carr doesn't beat out Minchey, you don't simply give Carr the starting job because you're worried he leaves. This is D1 football; jobs aren't awarded on recruiting rankings alone.

Carr not winning the job next year does nothing to indicate his future as a QB. Full stop.

Minchey is a very good QB and could easily beat him out, and that would do nothing to impact my belief that Carr will start and win games for ND.

I think 2 of the current Qb’s transfer

Don't think he's a grad transfer but is finishing his 4th year of school - two starting for KY and two prior to that at NC where didn't burn any eligibility. Good size, has position flexibility... A top DL in the TP! Kentucky starting DT - Keeshawn Silver - to enter transfer portal

I don't think you can pass on Ewers if interested. He throws the best ball in CFB, loves Jesus and is SEC proven. With this OL and our RBs next year it could be the greatest show on turf. I don't want to upset Carr at all but you cannot say no to Ewers.

It's going to be really interesting to watch how it plays out for playoff teams.

The main window closes on the 24th, so if you make the second round, you'll still be playing. Yes I know there's a later window for teams that are still playing, but most of the action will likely come during the main window, especially as desperate non-CFP teams throw bags at kids. I'd imagine some role players might jump in while they're team's still alive, but most won't. Does that fend off bidding wars for, say, our starters? Or does the drama just extend on and on?

Conversely, anyone you pick up in the portal is likely going to be competing next year with guys on your current roster. Do you want to introduce that dynamic in the midst of a playoff run? Recruiting someone to play next year over a guy you need to be locked in next week? I'm sure teams will do that to an extent, but you need to be careful.

It's like if NBA free agency started in April. What a sport.
