What is ND's backup plan if/when Knight decommits? Is ND still not going to pursue any of the 3 WR's we lost in July, if not why? What about Faraimo and NOB?

Recruiting has been dormant, which is surprising because of how Freeman has expressed how important recruiting is to him.
Just because you don’t hear somerhing doesn’t mean they aren’t recruiting. Freeman and staff are doing all the things you mention. They can’t have a press conference about it.

Any names that have popped up at this point as the staff's potential Plan Bs at Qb? Have to imagine they're actively having conversations with other kids now.

Just not doing them well… see wr, qb, rb
What are you even talking about? We have 3 composite 4 star running backs in 2 classes. And before that we got Jeremiyah Love. We have the best QB room we’ve had since…? Yes, our top 100 QB will likely decommit, let the staff find his replacement before writing off the position.

I'm still baffled why ND isn't trying to offer more blue-chip players since there will be 20 more scholarships for next year. Why in the world are they not going after players like Andrew Babalola and Brock Schott? Stanford is the favorite for Babalola and apparently he cares a lot about academics, and apparently Schott wanted to go to ND. Even if he's a tweener (TE or DE), why not take a chance on him? Jamie mentioned that Babalola wanted an ND offer, so those seem like 2 recruitments that could be pretty easy to flip if we offered.

Maybe they plan on going ham in the portal next year?

No idea.. but this WR haul with the current depth at that position is horrifying.

But like I said.. Maybe they see WR as the diva position it is & think they can just buy new ones every year.

But that’s probably wishful thinking.

Thurman, Burgess & the secondary signees do look good though.

If they do go ham in the portal they need to start bringing in underclassmen. It can't just be grad transfers or players like Riley Leonard who only have 1 year of eligibility remaining. They need players with 2-3 more years of eligibility. I know it's hard for them to bring in underclassmen who aren't 1 year removed from HS, but in that case they need to start bringing in guys who they really wanted that went elsewhere who hit the portal after 1 year.

I would also think that you don't fill all 20 scholarships in one class, or your numbers will be off for the following classes. Curious if they offer a few more this year, and fill the others with transfers so that they can start to split those 20 scholarships among different classes.

Also, is this going to just be done that quick? Does that mean that all the walk ons are done after this year? Not sure I understand how this is going to work. I figured there would be a gradual increase in scholarships each year until after 3-4, they got to 105, or whatever the number turns out to be, and it would let the current walkons finish what they started.

Our Rbs in this class are not good (i'm not a complete star chaser), that is my opinion, and many others opinion as well.

We are talking about this 25 class. The WR recruiting is terrible, and we have completely messed up our 25 QB recruiting.

Loy mentioned he would go after these cats.

Malik Washington (Maryland), Bryce Baker (UNC), Jaron Keawe Sagapolutele (Cal), Bjorn Jurgensen (Virginia), Chris Denson (Coastal Carolina) LOL
Fuck it. I've talked myself into Chris Denson. Deuce Knight 2.0

Smaller. Slower. Left Handed. But Better!

why is recruiting so dead? with the expanded rosters coming shouldn't there be an obvious expanded board?

we are going to be a top 5 team all year and undefeated going into USC, baring any major let downs. That’s going to do great things for this class down the stretch and even better things for the 2026 class.

The reason the 25 class hit a snag IMO is bc of the lack of results in 2 season, and you can’t sell the future forever with that, which is what Freeman was selling. Now we have actual results. Keep the faith.

Hit a snag at wr position bc our 5 star qb wasn’t actually committed and sandbagged it. Can nitpick a few other spots but that’s the major misstep

One of the more perplexing things to me is how everything is going extremely right for Notre Dame in terms of coaching, players, recruiting, culture, admin support, etc. Literally everything. Besides 2025 recruiting.
Had that exact same thought on multiple occasions, TJ. It's gotta turn at some point if they run the table, right?

Or even upgrade at certain positions? That's probably asking too much.

Interesting thought here but what about Kirk Herbstreets kid as an extra 2025 Qb? Saw some tape he isn’t bad and might be an interesting grab since we might need an extra Qb if we keep Deuce. He is also Gordy Sudafed’s teammate.
