lovely precedent
it sucks but if you're doing a tourney style playoff just scrap the bowls.
lovely precedent
ND is looking less likely to get in. This week it was evident that the CFP was going to ensure Bama didn’t get left out two years in a row. Whether they were “encouraged” via back channels no one will ever know but come on…
Honestly, why spend all this money for travel/lodging to Grapevine, TX if we’re basically getting the AP poll? Get rid of the committee and go to all the metrics (SP+, FEI, Sagarin, Etc) that already leave out the biases of the polls?
IF ND gets left out, I’d be fine w/ them taking the rest of the year off and declining a bowl invite. No one gives two shits about the non-CFP bowls other than sponsors & media. ND & most teams would likely incur a net loss after factoring in travel. The players get paid now so they‘re not going to miss out on a free Fossil Watch or a PS5. Nobody attends the games other than corporate dolts & family members of players. Any draft eligible player will justifiably opt out. The remaining starters would be susceptible to injury in what amounts to an exhibition game that just happens to count in their final record. Zero sense.
No they’re thinking everything else failed so now they’re going w/ the reverse jinx…LOLWOW.. we must be in if they are wasting airtime defending us...![]()
Agree to disagree.I disagree.
Non-CFP Bowl games are still relevant, and fun.
1. They are now basically a full contact spring game, and young players get to shine and showcase what’s to come before a long off-season
2. It allows fans a cheap family vacation since tickets are reasonable and locations are usually in warm climates that are easily accessible (think Orlando, not San Francisco)
3. The team gets essentially a paid vacation together and one last chance to be on the road together as brothers, without the pressure of a “game” coming
4. It is incredibly arrogant to turn down a bowl game, unless it’s like the Potato Bowl or some shit that the university knows will net a loss and the players will hate participating in
We would basically be a lock for the Pop Tarts Bowl if left out. Orlando. Game vs BYU.
That would actually be a decent matchup and easily the best bowl game outside the CFP
Let it be Kenny Minchey’s audition tape. Let him rip for 60 minutes. I’m certain he would love that opportunity.

The committee takes the $EC glasses offI've not seen or heard of a scenario that ND and Miami can both make the playoffs. So I've been under the impression it's one or the other. If that's not the case, can someone please share with me how they can both make it.
Hold it, they beat Eastern Illinois (which an inter-squad game would have proven more) 56-0. How can you not be impressed with that!If Bama loses and the committee really want s to look like a bunch of fools they will have a three loss team in the playoffs. There's no justification for a three loss team.
They should end the bowls & give every team a winter workout period to get those practice reps b/c you’re right, they’re invaluable. Still think the bowls suck & are becoming unwatchable.I can't believe KState is foregoing a bowl.
Dumbass decision and dumbass decision to put it to a player vote.
Those practices are invaluable.
Definitely agree with the last statement. And FCS wins shouldn’t count towards bowl eligibility. If ND ever doesn't make the playoff, I hope they go to a bowl for the extra practices.
Way too many programs and only 12 get in. Most of the 100+ don't have a chance anyway. I'd keep bowls, but for me, you need to be 7-5 to qualify. No losing records, no 6-6
We're all praying that, but these mutha fuckin' bastards on the committee are some real shady mo' fuckers! The mafia doesn't have anything over these fuckin' assholes! The fact that everyone on this thread has a different opinion about what ND needs or doesn’t need to make the playoffs shows how flawed this playoff system is. Nothing is consistent
I’m a believer if BYU loses ND is in, but again that’s a total guess lol
Agree to disagree.
Everyone already thinks ND is arrogant so who cares?
The Pop Tart Bowl is more embarrassing than the Potato Bowl.
Paid vacation? They’d rather be home for the holidays IMO.
With all the opt outs, no one cares. They’re not gonna let Kenny Minchey play for 60 minutes unless they want to protect CJ w/ a phantom injury which goes back to my original assertion to let the kids vote…like KSU

Is there any chance ND gets a bowl game against a pretty good SEC team like Texas or Vandy? That would be of most interest to me. BYU is of little interest in comparison. I just want ND to have a chance to VIOLATE an SEC team.

Unfortunately, in that scenario, I doubt anyone of NFL pedigree/draft hopefuls would play in the game.Is there any chance ND gets a bowl game against a pretty good SEC team like Texas or Vandy? Okay thanks I find that slightly more depressing. Locked into a dang ACC bowl. They would 100% be in the Pop Tarts bowl.
Highest ranked non-CFP ACC/ND vs highest ranked non-CFP B12

A trip is still a trip. Give me a trip with my boys over spending time in South Bend in December.
ND did the same thing in 2009 when Weis was fired.Their coach is done, and the new one can't come in until after the playoffs. They're probably thinking "what's the point".
I think we need a tie in or regular 3-4 game schedule against the SEC. It’s the only conference that the worldwide leader will not devalue after we go 13-3 against them over 4 years. We need to take advantage of the “beat SEC team, you’re amazing; lose to SEC team, it’s just tough competition” perception. We were set up for a bit of that this year, but Arkansas lost all their close games. Add a win against Tennessee or Mizzou and we’re probably in.I'm sorry I just don't get how a 3-loss 'bama makes it in if they lose to GA. At some point the season ends and again, what's really the purpose of the CCG game anyway? It's only helpful to teams in situations like Duke or I guess 'bama where it can catapault them into the CFP, but if they lose, I say that should have ramifications in the other direction as in, you're out!
We just need to get to a 16-team field and we definitely need to do something about scheduling as there are a lot of dogs on the schedule these days. As we all have noticed, the 2026 schedule is terrible.
ND needs to make some conference tie ups and namely with the Big10.
