Well, ya know, Chicago is where qbs come to fall off the face of the earth
As much as I hate to admit it, I think the Bears are actually a pretty well built team overall (some holes obviously but everyone has those except maybe the Rams this year), and I think Ben Johnson looks like the real deal. I think Williams is the weak link on the team, or at least on offense.

Ben Johnson does a good job overall, but Williams dropping back 37 times in that wind is BK vs NC State levels of play calling malpractice when they were running like they were.

hard to argue with the most important stat- record - and they are 9-3 and tops in the NFC right now.

It does feel like they are the Vikings from last year, finding ways to win close games at an unlikely rate, but you also have to tip your cap when teams consistently find a way to win those games in clutch-time.

Big game this weekend in GB.

The Bears have been finding ways to lose for four decades. Now that they're finding ways to win, those of us to are endeared to them really could care less. Process and style points can wait. Fun is winning and winning is fun.

I was a little unsure how Ben Johnson would make the leap from OC to HC and how much of the Lions culture was tied to Dan Campbell. Considering how the years have gone, it looks like Johnson was maybe the straw that was stirring that drink. Any coach, especially an NFL coach, who is going to commit to the run and let his team run for over 200 yards in a game is going to win me over. I am a RTDB Appreciator.

If only KOC would watch some Ben Johnson tape and learn about committing to the run. Sadly, KOC outthinks himself every week and had his rookie UDFA backup chucking the ball all over the place with long, complex routes. KOC is not a QB developer, he is good at taking misfit toys and bringing the most out of him. With the benefit of extra data now, the Vikings made a mistake letting Darnold go because that is actually the type of situation KOC can thrive in.

The guy I've been eyeing all year is Mac Jones. He to his QB rehab start already with Shanahan in SF just like Darnold, and can come to the finishing school in Minnesota. "Nine" can make faces holding the clipboard next year.

Hey Wentz was doing alright before he got injured. McCarthy just sucks and Brosmer is a UDFA who was playing for New Hampshire two years ago.
Yeah, I don't know if KOC is necessarily a great developer of raw QBs, which to be fair is very difficult, but he can take veterans and get the most of out of him. Cousins had his best year and a half of his career under KOC before his Achilles blew up. I'm all in on Mac Jones for next season. McCarthy could one day turn out to be an average QB, but it's time to cut bait on him as the franchise QB. If nothing else, he's made of glass and not 1/100th of the talent of Burrow so you can't put up with that.

You can't make chicken soup with you know what. JJ McCarthy isn't going to make it in the NFL. Neither will Max Brosmer. KOC shouldn't have those two data points held against him.

Unless he was all in, with Kwesi, on JJ?

That could be the critique, if true. But that doesn’t mean you pull the cord on KOC. Let him flourish as a coach but take away his leeway in making evals.

I was pretty negative on the McCarthy pick from the outset. In part because he’s a Michigan guy who benefited from a system where the Quarterback was secondary (or tertiary, if we consider both the run game and the sign stealing operation), but also because the Vikes have had no success with drafting QBs. Every successful guy we’ve had at the position has been a veteran with the exception of Daunte Culpepper. This was true under Zimmer, Childress, and Frazier and it continues to be true under KOC.

JJ should be held against KOC to some degree, I'm certain he had a lot of say in who was going to be drafted, but at the same time he really wanted Maye (who is going to end up the best QB from that class by far), but the Patriots turned down our offer which was massive, but was a good call on their part.

KOC is a good coach, but he gets stubborn with his playcalling and refuses to run. I get that when you watch the all 22 KOC has actually schemed multiple people open and JJ is just missing them but you can only go to war with the horses you have and he needs to adjust to the reality that McCarthy is just not seeing the field and lean on the run game which is actually pretty effective.

The man who needs to be fired is KAM. His drafting is terrible and has had multiple wasted draft classes.

At times like this I sincerely wish I gave a single flying fuck about the NFL to distract me from the sham CFP. But here we are. Football season is over
