Good God, the Lions just went on a 98 and half yard, 11 minute drive that ended in a td.

I'm not even a Lions fan, but that was absolutely masterful football.
Most beautiful drive since ND in the natty in January

Probably the team that won the Super Bowl.
Did they win because of Stafford? I didn't think he was that outstanding when they won. He hasn't exactly lit the world on fire since. Detroit has gone from dumpster fire to elite though. Goff is outplaying him statistically in every category. I think a case can be made.

Matthew Stafford in 2021:
404/601
4,886 yards
41 TDs
102.9 passer rating

2021 playoffs:
1,188 yards
9 TDs
108.3 passer rating

Super Bowl:
26/40
283 yards
3 TDs

Case: CLOSED.
Fair. I still think the Lions got the better deal, they gained more. Rams were already decent, they had been to the SB 3 years prior and made it part way through the playoffs in 2 out of the other 3 previous years. Lions meanwhile went from a 3-5 win team to a big time playoff contender.

I get that argument, but the point of playing in the NFL is to win the Super Bowl. I'm not saying the Lions "lost" the trade either, because they certainly have ended up better than they were. But one Super Bowl trumps some regular season success. Besides, the Rams made the playoffs last year and won more playoff games than the entire NFCN combined, and they should make the playoffs again this season.

Super nitpicky, and I have no love for the Lions, but I don't think you can call them "elite." Damn good football team, to be sure. But they are what, 2-2 in the postseason under Campbell, I think? Lost to a rookie Qb at home last year. Not elite. KC was elite, may still be we will see how this year goes, very banged up at WR. Eagles are elite. I think you need to win it to earn that title.

Goff is a solid QB but he will always be the sum of his parts. He cooks off of play action and is accurate, but he is supported by the best running back tandem in the NFL and very solid WRs. Detroit is the perfect system for him, but Goff is not Stafford.

Stafford, pound for pound, might go down as one of the most underrated QBs to ever win a SB. It amazes me he still doesn't get the respect he deserves, and, ironically, that's probably because he spent a large chunk of his career on mediocre Lions teams and didn't get the attention he deserved. Dude has so much arm talent it's not even funny. Master of the no-look pass.

I think the trade was very even, I'll give the slight edge to Rams. LAR gave up way more but they won the Bowl and are still perennial contenders. Lions are still chasing the elusive first SB.

The Draft and Free Agency seem to make people forget this. Like mythical recruiting title in college.

Show me the trophies.

Nailed it.

I don't think there was ever a point I would have bet that he'd have been a successful pro. College one hit wonder and his size was always going to be a factor.
He’s also too moody and too affected by the circumstances of the game. At one point last night he looked like a pouting child. Emotion and all of that is fine but you can’t, as the QB, ever show negative emotional displays. Bad leadership and it gets in your head and bogs you down.

Can't recall if he was like that in college, but yeah, it's a bad look.

One season as a full time starter and his size were big question marks. Maybe coming to fruition. He was obviously a talented athlete. Doesn't mean you're a football player.

I don't know, maybe elite is a touch strong of a word, but they were a 3-5 win team every year prior to the trade. Now they've been #1 in their division the last 3 years and they're winning playoff games.

Like I said, it is nitpicking. They are a contender for sure. *2 years, Vikings took the division in '22.

Stafford with lamest QB sneak I’ve seen in quite some time.

Pro tip #1 - QB sneak shouldn’t be run standing totally vertical.

Man I do feel for that franchise. Truly though the Aaron Rodgers trade was going to bring a few good years to the Jets.

There's talent on that roster, it's insane how things happen. I do think Aaron Glenn is a good coach, give him some time.

Can't trade or cut the owner
