I was listening to the most recent II podcast today and they were answering a question about if they think Carr is ahead of Minchey (they did not, yet). Then they started talking about that either Minchey or Angeli will likely transfer before August and it got me thinking…if Minchey leaves because Carr has passed him up, does Angeli likely leave after the ‘24 season? Does that mean they go and get another transfer QB for depth in ‘25 and roll with Carr? Or do you look for a transfer to be the starter? If you get a transfer for ‘25, does Carr start looking to leave? When does this end? 😂
It doesn't. It's just the new normal. Every position on the depth chart is fluid, but especially QB. That is why schools now have GMs. Unless the NCAA ditches the transfer rule, it will always be this way.

I thin ND will evaluate the qb market for a backup if 2 of these 4 leave

IF Minchey are Carr are BOTH gone after the 24 season then it's due to Carr being ahead of them BOTH in their minds or the coaches minds. IF that's the case then Carr is your 2025 starter, and yes, you probably get someone for depth.

I imagine that the coaching staff has already evaluated his skills as it relates to a returner, and if they were that good, he’d be on returns. If you’re fast, but have stone hands or make undisciplined decisions on the field, a coach isn’t going to risk putting him back there. He’s already a DB, which implies that he doesn’t have as good of hands as a typical WR or some RBs. I’m sure Holtz evaluated players similarly, but probably just happened to have a couple players who had the speed plus the other skills needed to be effective returners.
He's playing DB because of the lack of speed we have recruited at the postition. He was better on the offensive side of the ball as a Prep but the backfield is loaded and he was only 168lbs when he got to campus. His hands are fine and he's the fastest player on the team, im sure they'll revisit this very soon but with Harrison back there it's in good hands for now.

I don't like Driskell, but I respect him for standing his ground on the COVID shot nonsense.

Back on topic, though, it's encouraging to see Leonard getting in reps, however limited he may be.
I get your view on the Covid shot. How you feel. But I lost my grandmother, uncle and my dad within a month from Covid. Less than 30 days. All gone. So my point of view is a tad bit different from yours.

scrimmage on the 13th, open to the media is what I've seen.

Great to see so much praise for Sneed! Man that would just be awesome if he turns it up to 11.

Sorry but where have you seen so much praise of sneed this spring? Not saying there isn’t, I just haven’t seen it other than he’s running with 1s.

I don’t remember who was talking about him, but the comment was that he still needs to add some size. Hopefully he is patient enough to grow into his role
He's around 175 lbs now and that's after gaining about 8-10 lbs.

After this season I don't think ND should entertain the idea of a QB transfer. Hopefully Carr and Knight have success and that opens eyes to high profile QB recruits.

I don't think Angeli nor Minchey will transfer before the season.

Prister certainly does. Listen to the last part of today's instant analysis

I really hate to lose either.
Minchey is going to be really good and i think Steve is ready to start right now. He's going to be needed this season.

I think they both stick and whoever loses the job next year will transfer.

I was standing in front of the mirror this morning trying on all my jerseys!
Season can't get here fast enough.

We should petition the NCAA to have their football seasons played in the spring.
NCAA March to June and the NFL can take over in the fall.

I suppose you can make the argument, but I strongly believe that in order to go far in the playoffs, ND needs an elite quarterback. Someone who has the talent to will the team to victory. Leonard has elite traits; Angeli does not.
Exactly. Angeli isn't winning any championships anytime soon with his skill set. A good game manager type for sure, but we need a lot of QB upside to get to that next level. Leonard, Carr, and Minchey provide that. Angeli doesn't.

If Carr is not in the discussion for the starting QB next season I would be shocked. I doubt he and Knight came to ND to sit behind a transfer QB.

Could you make the argument they shouldn’t have brought Leonard in?
No, Leonard is still the best QB on the roster. If one of these guys beats them out, great, but it doesn't sound like that's happening (or particularly close to happening).
