Defense optional

Former UH QB & Heisman winner Andre Ware is calling the game. His PBP partner asked him if he wanted to see his teams’ 1989 offensive yardage record broken. He said “no“ so he’s obviously proud of it but it was against SMU when they were coming off the Death Penalty. Context is everything.

Brother that seat is already simmering. Losing to Navy today sends it to a rolling boil.
I've heard he's got next year to right the ship, or he's gone.
Changing OC's midway through the season gave them Bama, but when ya lose to Navy. It's ball game.

I’ve likened it to more of an Arkansas but same concept. Will be a peer of Arkansas rather than Texas moving forward, similar to when Arkansas left the Southwest for SEC. Arkansas won the SWC 13 times and has never won the SEC
Great analogy.

Could be as both were heavily reliant on Texas recruits so it helped they played in the same conference as UT. Neither state is a recruiting hotbed. They can have success recruiting in a highly populated border state.

Who do we want to win this game since we spanked both of them?

A&M played like quitters in the 4th quarter until their last drive. Them their defense just laid down and died like a bunch of punks. I hate SC but I also hate the SEC. Only game usc hasn’t found a way to lose.

Texas A&M blew it despite the announcers essentially touting southern cal like they’re the best team in the country.

So 5 of our 2025 opponents played yesterday. Only Tx A&M lost and they lost to another 2025 opponent so they had a strong day. Its kind of a fool's errand to put much stock in these games as the rosters are going to be much different next year in most cases but Arkansas, Syracuse and USC certainly lit up the scoreboard. Syracuse played WSU's jayvee squad and Oklahoma also had a ton of opt outs. Not sure about the other teams involved.

Even with Duce, Zach Branch, and Hudson in the portal SC can still display a strong receiver corps.

Did SC only play 2 SEC teams this year? And went 2-0. Started w the Crying Crawdads and finished w the Aggies.

That 2H is why I thought people were piling on a bit with the exodus of WRs from USC. Lane and Lemon are a good bit better than Robinson and Branch. I thought Hudson was the biggest loss. It seems more like a one ball, 5 mouths to feed thing then another thing I would grill Lincoln on. They were never gonna retain all of them going into next year.

Maiava is up and down a ton but USCs WRs were the best we faced this year and will probably hold true unless we face OSU.

Tony Elliott is 11-23 at UVA. In three years he's won 3, 3, and 5 games. He's probably looking at having to get something more than bowl eligible in 2025.

Brent Venables is 22-17 at OU. They have 13 losing seasons, ever, and he has coached two of those. They're in the mighty SEC now and do not appear to have a positive trajectory.

Dabo is 30-11 since the two of them left his program. He had 10 losses total in the 7 seasons prior to TE and BV leaving the program.

It made complete sense for Elliott ad Venables to leave to become head coaches. It was well beyond time. That being said, that trio has not enjoyed anything near the success they had together since they parted ways. Wonder if a reunion is in the cards down the line.

thought aTm winning & finishing 9-4 had a shot at giving ND another ranked win. Oh well.

I really enjoy the novelty of these games at Fenway Park and Yankee Stadium but they need to make a commitment to having these fields in better condition. Guys are going to get injured when the turf gives out where third base is supposed to be.

Actually they’re better off injury wise if the turf gives out. Does make for some rather shitty football with guys falling down when trying to make a cut though.
