Of course the QB coach has input on QB recruiting. He's the first read. But if the head coach, or OC - neither of which was him at the time - is fine taking Clark in a pinch after McNamara fell through, or standing by our offer to Pyne after he stopped growing, OK. Rees would have had input but I don't know he would have had the authority at the time to offer a scholarship to a second QB in that class over Pyne, if BK/Long didn't want to.

And Angelli? He’s pretty mediocre but they still kept him after Kelly bolted.

It was Freeman and Rees that craped the bed by not getting a QB Transfer. Freeman took ND Top 5 to #20.

Meanwhile, BK got a QB Transfer and took LSU from untangled to #17.

Hopefully next year will be free of stupid losses.

Minchey and Carr is a significant step up in QB recruiting from Clark, Pyne, Buchner, Angeli. Coaches can get better at things too! Brian Kelly certainly did.
