Was actually thinking of Ryan Puglisi. Sign me up for a Carr '23 and Puglisi '24 all day. Ball comes out of hands like a cannon, off angle throws, moves well.

After a little google digging we may need to jump on this sooner rather than later. Some of the big dogs already on board.

Not sure if he grew up an ND fan but said it was his dream to make it to campus

Parson's tape gave me flash backs to Everett Golson's Myrtle Beach highlights. Kid is small but a gamer.

Minchey's tape is really solid. Super poised, accurate, quick decision maker, and has some mobility. A lot like Angeli but maybe a little more physically gifted. A shame we can have him as the 2024 QB and Carr as the 2023 guy.

Novosad and Glenn are probably pipe dreams unfortunately.

Same. Small but twitchy and the ball just jumps out of his hand. Golson could really drive the ball. He just didn’t have it upstairs.

1. I hope Carr reclassifies.
2. If not, don’t take these Non-Top 100 QBs.
3. Get a flip or a transfer later in the season.
4. At this point, why take a weak commit??

It’d be a massive black eye on the offensive recruiting effort if it leaves 23 without a QB. They already missed their chance to land a QB who can elevate the program, but they absolutely can’t just skip the position.

So when could we possibly know if CJ can/will reclass? Obviously he has to have certain courses, but when might we know?

Call Eli Holstein, could be interested after Bama took Lonergan. I’d call Minchey too. I think you do that but work on CJ going to 2023 and then recruit 2024’s.

There is a long time until both signing days. (Dec & Feb). ND is really starting over on QB recruiting for ‘23 so there is probably a lot going on we have no clue about.

With the class ND is putting together, and the fact ND will turn the heat up on 3-4 kids for the first time, I bet ND gets a legit 4 Star QB before it’s over.

And these kids have another year of HS football, so kids could emerge too.

There is probably a handful of kids who said they weren’t interested in other schools that will change their tune if ND comes knocking.

So you’re complaining Carr is holding ND hostage as we sit in July yet acknowledge someone you’d want would have to be a flip later in the season? Interesting.

The silence about a '23 kid is music to my ears. It tells me CJ is reclassifying and they aren't announcing shit until they absolutely have to.

I think if they need a 2023 QB and are fine with the “safe” prospects it’d get to work on Minchey, Parson, Lainz those type soon.

If you want a big name, you’re gonna have to see who’s feeling uneasy close to ESD due to coaching moves (ex Devin Brown, the UF/OU flip). Risky but someone will be available.

The silence could be from the fact the staff doesn’t want any more public debacles like with Dante.
They are probably contacting committed kids, thus obviously keeping it very private so not to screw over the recruits.
I’m guessing we will have a better idea by the end of July when the dead period is over. But not until then.

Possible. I still can't imagine CJ grinding away with online courses just in case he wants to do it. Seems absurd. Who knows.

We also should have a better idea by the end of July or so whether Carr is in fact reclassifying as well. All other moves flow from there.

He’s going to early enroll in Jan of ‘24 at worse, so it would be fun for him to just be able to take all elective fun classes in the fall of ‘23, and just play football, since he would already have graduated.

I must be missing something, 247 doesn't list Lonergan as a Bama commit. A hard lean though.

When Golson was clicking it was a thing of beauty but Regressed under BK. Believe those we're still the BK red face days.

BK couldn’t make Golson not fumble everytime someone got near him.
Golson was successful in 2012 because BK limited his reads & didn’t ask him to do too much. It was all sprint outs & one read then take off.
When Golson was at FSU under Jumbo he couldn’t do crap either.

Yep that is where we are at. Rees has to figure the Carr situation first and then proceed. Rees agreed to this situation.

The names you listed above are no bueno.

Although he didn't pan out like we hoped, don't forget when ND landed Wimbush. He was highly rated and a steal from Penn State

I think there is plenty of movement - a verbal is almost as valuable as a silent commit used to be.

Rees needs to figure out Carr first. The Carrs will tell him what they want, and Tommy will figure it out from there.

Yes.
Yes.
Yes.
Also, yes.

Any flips they've had in the past under Kelly were later on after the summer. Wimbush and Kiel come to mind.

Playing the transfer portal is an option, even if some might not consider it ideal.

Agree they absolutely need to figure out Carr. But beyond that, I don't know how much movement there'll be among the QBs at this point. NIL changes things.

Looking at 247 Composite, there are nine QBs ranked in the Top 100. Several - Nico, Dante, Rashada - likely have heavy NIL deals locking them in place. Arch isn't playing games. Nelson committed to Lincoln Riley and Riley isn't going anywhere. Arnold seems pretty solid with Oklahoma.
That leaves Vizzina (ha) and whichever of Holstein and Lonergan does not wind up at Bama. And you've still got Georgia, A&M, Ohio State and LSU in the market. That's going to be tough.

Our best bet of getting an elite QB in '23 is turning Carr into a '23. Beyond that, sure take another run at Vizzina and Arnold (maybe Venables bombs or that new OC gets hired away?) but I'd start working down that list a bit. We need a QB in this class, even if he's not elite.

You have to take a QB every class. With the way they transfer, get injuried and just don't pan out. It's way to risky to take a chance. And again it's proven you can't throw all your eggs in one basket.

A championship caliber qb every year for the exact reasons you mention, not all will stay. Rees is every other year …. That will bite you for example if Buchner doesn’t pan out

I never said championship QB every year. I stated that you need to take a QB every year.
