Don’t worry. You’re not the only one judging a book by its cover. An LSU fan is not a true Notre Dame fan. Looks and talks soft. No Irish in him. 😉
Maybe I’m just spoiled and it’s unfair to judge him to the unparalleled talent we’ve produced and routinely compete against. 😎

Maybe not featuring a TE in the passing game could be for the best?

They have a couple of true FR WR that look pretty damn good. Might be time to get with the rest of the world and hit some WR down field maybe? They've got the QB to do it, too.

Running game and OL ain't going anywhere. Let it rip.

The passing game will be fine, for the most part. Plenty of talent, and college football largely is lacking elite corners. With Hartman + ND’s offensive line, the receivers (and tight ends) should have plenty of time to get open.

ETA: ND has a couple of tune up games to work the kinks out as well before heading to Raleigh.

I have 0% concern about Hartman finding a "go-to" WR. Our WR's are going to benefit from having Hartman this year.

He found a go-to WR at the B&G game. I think he has a lot of options and ND needs a WR to step up this year.

Tobias has all the potential, he is going to see the field and have his opportunity; he like other WR's need to make it happen.

I’m sure WRs are going to look not as good with Morrison & Hart covering them in practice.
Mickey & Gray are pretty good.
That’s not even counting Harper and Lewis.
Think that Lewis, who started in the CFP, is the 6th Cornerback this year.
Carter was a Cornerback his entire career, so he can cover as a Safety, & Watts is as athletic as anyone on the team.
It’s probably difficult to throw on ND.

Lucky- based off other posts you seem to be a Colzie fan (like myself). I want to see Colzie make a difference this year.
No denying the physical talent or tangible traits he has. A nearly 6’5 prospect that ran a 10.82 and high jumped 6’8, maybe higher.

Though, I would say that I have tempered by enthusiasm quite a bit as he just doesn’t play as big or athletic as he truly is. He seems to have identified that and is trying to address it. But it doesn’t seem like it’s been fixed or I think it’d be more obvious.

Also, some guys run hot. 24/7 looking to compete, win, dominate, etc. And some guys have troubles turning that switch on consistently. Again, it seems like Colzie is trying but it’s not natural for him. And those are things you truly never find out until the guy is in the system for awhile.

He’s still got time, though not a lot. I would imagine it’s a now or never deal for him. If he doesn’t figure it out before this season is over. The depth chart will start to take care of itself.

FWIW Lewis was playing corner on second team D the other day so I don’t think he’s quite #6 corner. But he could be the #6 DB I suppose.

II guys also said in their "instant analysis" that Greathouse and Flores were "rotating in with the one's" sooner than before FWIW.

I think the TE depth chart is fine so long as ND wasn’t/isn’t planning on many 2 TE sets outside of short yardage situations.

Speaking of, this might be too clever by half (and be putting too much on his plate as backup OT) but what about using Tosh Baker as an in-line TE in extreme short yardage situations? He might even be trusted to catch a football or two thanks to his length and his basketball background - if opposing defenses completely ignore him as a receiving threat.

Carmody had been mentioned in this role at one point. Believe Prister stated it a while back.

Just screwing around this morning with some season predictions.

WR predictions:
Thomas 44 rec/651y/8 TD
Tyree 37 rec/629y/8 TD
Merriweather 36 rec/720y/5 TD
Greathouse 23 rec/299y/4 TD
Colzie 26 rec/390y/3 TD
Rico 19 rec/377y/1 TD
Salerno 19 rec/228y/2 TD

450y from RB receptions, 5 TD
300y from TE production, 2 TD

Places Hartman at 3484y, which with this RB room, seems high. Throwing for 38 TD. I'll say 9 INTs.
