ND adds a TD late to add some flavor. ND controls throughout and wins 41-23
This is "Strength vs Weakness" both ways...
If ND goes with Coan, I think Ridder's mobility is the difference in an extremely close game.
If ND goes with Pyne, I think ND wins an extremely close game, IF Pyne can push the ball down field far enough to keep UC honest, even if he's not hitting a bunch of deep shots.
Neither team is going to run the ball well (on paper), and both defensive fronts have a huge advantage in pass rush (on paper).
UC's difference makers at WR are at their best getting into space, but Ridder needs time for those routes to develop. He can scramble around to buy that time, but I think Freeman will be ready for that, too.
I expect a game with both teams in the low 20's, tilting either way.
Coan vs Ridder: UC 24, ND 21
Pyne vs Ridder: ND 27, UC 24
I think they are as well but for some reason I don't know if this is it. I think it will be against a team that can air it out more efficiently.
I think we can get to Ridder and at least make him uncomfortable enough that this doesn't turn into a career day through the air for them. He'll get plenty of first downs on broken plays with his legs but I don't see a lot of big plays in the passing game. I can't shake that Indiana game.
ND struggles to do almost all things offensively again while the defense is up for another challenge. ND wins 23-20.
Well thankfully BK has a history of success in the rain.
