Complaints about a podcast that is too long is equivalent to complaining about too many bowl games. Nobody forces you to turn on espn on a winter wendesday to watch third place team in the mac play a fourth in the wac in detroit. I spend most of my work day driving. Long podcasts on favorite team is a godsend. Love ofd and appreciate irish breakdown especially because they are long and genuinely enjoy what they are doing. I think the best shortish one is omally prister and sampson but they feel like they are going through the motions and clearly doing a podcast because the industry forces it. Sampson honestly comes off like podcasting is beneath him and it rubs me wrong, seperately he may be the best interviewer and most accomplished journalist. I could go on forever because I have been listening to all I can find since 2006. I even did two seasons of the nappannee guys blathering and sponsored by the local coffee shop. End rant but its weak sauce to bitch about podcast length when you can just hit stop or play it at 2x speed. (Not proofread) just randomly over irritated

I'd much sooner watch some glorious Wednesday night MACtion than listen to a BD podcast.

I prefer ISD, personally. Love their power hour podcast.

To each their own. I'm just not a big fan of what I perceive to be a lot of arrogance from BD, that's all. I'm glad you enjoy it, though

I also listen to as many podcasts as I can & have no problems with the length because I usually fast forward through the rants.

Thanks for sharing, Bobby:
  • All Sports Central was pretty shallow, but nothing real objectionable there.
  • F*ck Uncle Lou. If I want to listen to a poorly informed SEC fanboi taking gratuitous shots at ND, I'll just tune into ESPN.
  • Fisher's preview was by far the best. That guy did his research.
  • Sean's was, as usual, long on enthusiasm and short on analysis.
  • And I refuse to give Drian Briscoll clicks.

Fisher’s was good. Outside of a few misspeaks on player names (Kelvin Austin), he laid out a fair analysis. He’s actually more bullish than me. I have ND going 10-2 vs Fisher’s 11-1. Hope he’s right!

Irish Illustrated is my favorite. My #2 is Pod of Gold w/ the SBT guys. Since Lou Somogyi passed, I’ve moved ISD above BGI. Jamie is great w/ analysis and fair balance but he may hold the record for saying “you know” on a podcast. Mike Frank tends to get whiney or at least is perceived that way by me when he sighs in frustration before every comment. I used to enjoy Driskell w/ Lou. Haven’t listened to him much lately while on his own.

His cohost Vince is worthless. He is a yes man. They live across the street from each other & are friends. Vince was a failed freshman football coach. Go read the news story about him being investigated by the school board for abusing players.
And he is not allowed at the press box, that’s why Vince is doing it, unless he gets his vaccination. He says he is attending the games with a ticket this year.
And there is no doubt he thinks he knows more than Quinn.
His biggest problem is he chooses his guys, and if they aren’t hired or if they leave, he hates the different guy. He LOVES Harry Heistand. So he automatically doesn’t like Quinn. But he acts like Heistand was fired? He left on his own accord then retired, & doesn’t want to coach anymore, but Driskell acts like Heistand could be back at ND if BK would just go hire him. So that makes Quinn the enemy.

I want to push back against this a little. He seems like a completely decent human being who just says words to fill space. I bet he's a good father and he's probably a constant at his local church. He seems like that kind fo guy.

But...that's where the positives end for me.

Ha ha, touche.

It's difficult for me to fully explain why I dislike Driskell so much. I think I partially hate myself for listening to him when I could just as easily not turn him on. He doesn't get a lot of play time from me but when I have an opening with no podcasts or audiobooks then I circle back to the IB content and it just leaves me wanting so much more. But then again, I really like Sampson's writing style. I find his content to be near the tops in terms of research and execution in the college football space. I like eloquence and sophistication in my content to a fault. It has a tendency to wear me down mentally.

But I also like classical literature and microbrews. Others like People magazine, graphic novels or Bud light. To each their own.

I've found that the national previews of ND are very off base. Was just listening to one on The Athletic that said that ND's front 7 will be the weakest part of the team.

Agreed. I watch the nerds greyhammer posted earlier on occasion, with respect to ND and other teams, and they know the roster and are fair imo.
