Yea being in Miami and having gone to high school here I can tell you that Miami doesn’t have a lot of great matches in terms of high schools that Notre Dame is looking for. The couple of schools that are high academic places haven’t had good football teams in years. Naples/Fort Myers have a couple of private/public schools that fit the mold and Tampa has a couple as well. Jacksonville has a couple of brilliant schools but I’m not sure how many football prospects there are from those schools (Duke got Grayson Allen out of Providence School which is a match for ND). All in all, the best kids and teams in Florida football usually come from schools that are not great fits with what ND is about but when that rare match comes thru then they can go after that prospect.

William Putnam (Plant, Tampa), Kaiir Elam (The Benjamin School, Palm Beach), Khris Bogle (Cardinal Gibbons, Fort Lauderdale), 3 University School prospects (Josh Sanguinetti, Kenny McIntosh, and Tyler Scott), Chez Mellusi (Naples, Naples), and IMG Academy for the right prospect.

Those are a couple of prospects who matched some of ND’s criteria for a football recruit. University School in Fort Lauderdale would be a school id send coaches to every single year because you are going to have guys who are academic fits at Notre Dame and it’s just a matter of convincing them to leave and not go to UM which is hard. Josh Sanguinetti & Tyler Scott have some Ivy League offers I believe which speak to their academic prowess but might end up both staying at UM.

Pete Sampson alluding to 2019 class may be finished already.

Kind of boring if he's close to being right

As in, we aren’t going to recruit anymore prospects or he doesn’t think we’ll land any of the ones we are after? Because, I’d be very surprised if we didn’t add to this class. At least 1-2. For example, there is going to be another DE, IMO.

Pete did an interview with Polian who basically stated our number this year is 20, maybe 21.

That'd be a mistake IMO. We've already lost a total of 7 guys from the 2016 and 17 classes, and I'd be very surprised if there weren't more. 20 would put us at 84 scholarship players excluding 5th years, which I don't see as ideal. I'd say we can account for as many 5th years as we can account for attrition. So if we land 4 5th years, I can imagine we follow up with 4 transfers/medicals/etc. Guys want playing time and they're not guaranteed to get it here, so they'll want to go somewhere that can provide them said playing time.

I'd say the magic number should be 23.

20 or 21 was before the pOSU meltdown that's about to happen. I'll say 6 to 7 of those commits from 2019 and 2020 bounce. We could pursue at least a few of them.

Guys I'd like flipped are Sampson James and Steele Chambers. I think ND could flip Stover. Luke Wypler maybe but we weren't in his top 2 so maybe not. Maybe Paris Johnson? Wonder what Zach Harrison will do?

Yeah I imagine he got some info. We should start to pursue again, I mean he visited like 3 times or so.

Any pursuit of Harrison is a waste of time. If he doesn't pick pOSU, he will pick PSU or Michigan. We were a distant 4th.

He was never really an option. Things on his end would have to change quite a bit for this to happen. Not sure why folks can't let that one go. I guess it's because he's an IN guy and he's good, he became a must get.

Realistic targets, at this early stage would be Steele Chambers and Cade Stover. And even with that, none of those are slam dunks.

Its funny, we often say things like "pick the school, not the coach"

Now that a coach could be in hot water, we are saying... well, the coach you picked is well.... you get what I am saying.

Funny how things change when it fits our narrative.

Because we are assuming that most kids picked pOSU for the coach.

Our narrative hasn't changed. This just reinforces what we have been saying all along.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your point.

Well, most kids that pick OSU, pick OSU for Urban Meyer. This has been our narrative the entire time. So our narrative isn't changing. Hopefully this reaffirms our message of pick the school and not the coach. The program that will have to change the narrative is OSU, as Urban sells himself hard at these prospects.

Even if you pick a school instead of a school, a scandal is different than a coach leaving for another job.

Also hope Mikhail Sherman, Darrion Henry, and Jaheim Thomas in 2020 don't commit either.

Who does the NSD & ESP threads?

What time do the festivities kick off tomorrow?

I've seen a few guys say they have signing ceremonies, would be nice to have a schedule of those plus when the faxes start rolling in.

Also, just talked to BKess8. He's positioned in the <strike>bushes</strike> yucca outside Asa Turner's front door. He's asking for donations made to his Paypal account (SanDiegoBagman) cuz he's afraid his bag's a lil light.

The question is how far do we fall. I say we fall to #16. That has to get better. It's pretty sad we are on the fringe of the top 15.

Well we are probably adding Foskey and Turner. I can understand being upset at the offensive skill position recruiting, but we were successful everywhere else. This class does not make me sad in the slightest. We recruited WR well last year and are in a great spot with some big time '20 WRs. The only position that is highly concerning from a recruiting perspective is RB.

The defensive recruiting was pretty solid really, but like you said "Where are the RBs?"...what would Henning actually play if he ended up on campus? Isn't he listed as an APB?
