Yea being in Miami and having gone to high school here I can tell you that Miami doesn’t have a lot of great matches in terms of high schools that Notre Dame is looking for. The couple of schools that are high academic places haven’t had good football teams in years. Naples/Fort Myers have a couple of private/public schools that fit the mold and Tampa has a couple as well. Jacksonville has a couple of brilliant schools but I’m not sure how many football prospects there are from those schools (Duke got Grayson Allen out of Providence School which is a match for ND). All in all, the best kids and teams in Florida football usually come from schools that are not great fits with what ND is about but when that rare match comes thru then they can go after that prospect.
William Putnam (Plant, Tampa), Kaiir Elam (The Benjamin School, Palm Beach), Khris Bogle (Cardinal Gibbons, Fort Lauderdale), 3 University School prospects (Josh Sanguinetti, Kenny McIntosh, and Tyler Scott), Chez Mellusi (Naples, Naples), and IMG Academy for the right prospect.
Those are a couple of prospects who matched some of ND’s criteria for a football recruit. University School in Fort Lauderdale would be a school id send coaches to every single year because you are going to have guys who are academic fits at Notre Dame and it’s just a matter of convincing them to leave and not go to UM which is hard. Josh Sanguinetti & Tyler Scott have some Ivy League offers I believe which speak to their academic prowess but might end up both staying at UM.
