I've followed Oben over the last year and he still has to prove himself on the field. He didn't get much clock last season and didn't get as much pub as I thought he would over camp season.

Let's see how he does his first few games at DE and get him on campus. His dad may have gone to Louisville but it was most likely because that was his best offer. He was an Economics major and got his masters from FDU while he was in the NFL. Very bright man who I bet would want his son to go to a top academic school over being a legacy. RJ's only CB is to UVa.

All things considered, you'd have to think ND would be right at the top if they offer.

Lewis Cine, Everett, Safety

Watched his film. Really like this kid as a run and hit safety. Let Balis put some weight on him and he could develop into a terrific player.

RB Sampson James one to watch out of Avon HS in Indy. Ran for @ 600 yds last year sharing carries with Bryant Fitzgerald now an OLB at Indiana.

Has almost 282 yards through two games including 141 / 2 TD against #1 Ben Davis.

Hopefully he brings teammate & Wiscy commit, Issac Guerendo w/ him. Always nice to stay in touch with WR's that fast in case Porter/Keys don't work out.

Notre Dame to host top all purpose back

Notre Dame will host Eric Gray on Saturday, the No. 2 all-purpose back in the 2019 class, per the 247 Composite rankings.

Standout Eric Gray told Irish Illustrated that he will visit Notre Dame this weekend with his father.

The Memphis, Tenn., junior all-purpose back is coming off a spectacular sophomore season of more than 2,300 yards rushing and 43 touchdowns. The 5-foot-10, 185-pound prospect shows impressive top speed, acceleration and balance, often beating defenders to the edge and churning up big yards.

The Irish will likely be looking for a perimeter to follow commitments Markese Stepp and Jahmir Smith, a pair of bigger backs who excel as downhill rushers.

Gray first hit Notre Dame’s radar before his sophomore season.

“They’ve been sending letters and posters since last year and a lot of different stuff and been reaching out to my coaches, trying to get me to come up to a game last year but I just couldn’t make it up there,” Gray said. “This year, they sent it again to my coaches, my coaches sent it to me so I was like, ‘I got to get up there.’ And this was the perfect week to come and watch them play Georgia.

“They said that I’m a big prospect for them and they wanted me to get down there and see what the Fighting Irish had to offer.”

Notre Dame’s 422 yards rushing in its lopsided defeat of Temple last week caught Gray’s attention. Assessing that punishing ground game in person on Saturday will be critical.

“Notre Dame has impressed me a lot,” Gray said. “I like their run game. This will be my first time actually get up there watching Notre Dame. That’s a big reason why I wanted to go, to see their facilities and actually watch them play and see how their offense works and see if I can fit into their run scheme and things like that.”

Gray has a loaded fall schedule set, including several key visits.

“I’ve got quite a few (visits) lined up,” Gray said. “Next week, I’ll be staying in Memphis for the Memphis-UCLA game. On the (Sept. 30), I’ll be going to Tennessee versus Georgia. October 7, I’ll be going to Ohio State-Maryland. And then Vanderbilt-Kentucky and then Ohio State-Michigan.”

With next spring’s early official visit window, Gray plans to sort through his recruitment in the coming offseason and bring it to a close prior to his senior year.

“Since the new rule, you can go on (official) visits as a junior,” Gray said. “I plan on doing my official visits in 2018 between April and June and then committing right after that.

“I’ll go into my senior season and I won’t have to worry about colleges or anything like that and I can enroll early in January.”

Gray has plenty of college football in his blood. His uncle is former Ohio State running back Maurice Hall who split carries with Maurice Clarett during the Buckeyes’ 2002 national championship year. Also, his father played at Tennessee State.

The four-star back has been hearing promising details about Notre Dame through the coaching staff at Lausanne Collegiate School.

“My coach is a big fan of Notre Dame,” Gray said. “Our offensive coordinator, he talks to me about the academics and how good of a school, outside of football, they are. South Bend is not a bad place to go to college. I look forward to seeing all that.”

Jacob Wahlberg, 6-4, 210 lb LB from Muskegon, MI. Offers from NIU and BGSU so far.

Report: Mona Shores prospects impressive in win

Fellow junior Jacob Wahlberg is a 6-foot-4, 215-pound linebacker and H-back who had an impressive game, finishing with 14 tackles. He is a good athlete who can run to the football and did a good job against the Dux' wing-T attack. He may end up as a college H-back. He has good hands and is a physical blocker. However, those same attributes make him a good prospect on defense too. Schools will have to determine that, but either way, he was impressive. He is bigger than he was last year and I thought he ran well. He has offers Bowling Green and Northern Illinois. Notre Dame also recently said he was on their board. Prior to that, Wake Forest, Penn State, Michigan State, Minnesota and others had shown interest as well.
