Punter Collin Flintoft visiting for Navy. Raises some interesting questions. Gotta be a PWO position, right? Doerer is supposed to be a punter also. Can't imagine the team using 3 scholarships on kickers/punters again in '18. 33 ACT and a 3.9 GPA at Loyola in LA is no joke.

i was told about 2 months ago ND was looking at a "potential" scholly punter...don't know if he is the one or not...one would think if you can afford loyola tuition for high school that ND as a walk on would be doable

OL Recruiting (13 guys)

5* RS SR Quenton Nelson
4* RS SR Alex Bars
4* RS SR Sam Mustipher
4* RS SR Jimmy Byrne
3* RS JR Trevor Ruhland
5* RS SO Tommy Kraemer
4* RS SO Liam Eichenberg
4* SO Robert Hainsey
4* RS FR Joshua Lugg
4* RS FR Aaron Banks
3* RS FR Dillan Gibbons
3* FR John Dirksen
3* FR Cole Mabry

Looks to me like ND will definitely take at least one more body for the OL. I understand saving scholly's for 2019 with the superior talent there, but Quenton Nelson is going to the NFL Draft and I would be surprised if Jimmy Byrne came back for a 5th year. One more transfer on top of the obvious candidates and you're down to 10 scholly OLineman. That's just not good enough from a depth standpoint. I do think we have tons of talent and will have a good OLine next season, but I'm a little concerned with the numbers game going on at the OL. Gotta beef up the depth.

Byrne won't be asked back if numbers get tight he hasn't played at all no sense in keeping him a 5th year, Nelson is gone too

I'm ok with them signing just 3. If so, they need to restock the PWO pool as they are losing Sam Bush too. Need 2-3 for practice and the second half of SC. :devil_2:

I'm also ok with them circling back for Finn Dirstine. Kid is going to be an NFL prospect.

Looks like Manti if he were in the WWE.

2018 Remaining Class

QB - DONE
RB - DONE
WR - 0-1 guy (St. Brown, Cota, Keys III)
TE - 0-1 guy (Tremble)
OL - 2-3 guys (Mays, Petit-Frere, Jones)
DL - 0-1 guy (Oweh, Ossai, Enagbare)
LB - 0-1 guy (Tuliaupupu, Wilson, Hollifield)
DB - 0-1 guy (Griffith, Gordon, Irvin, Boykin, Bracy, Crim)

Looks to me like we'll take 5-6 more guys and be around the full 25 mark come signing day. The nice aspect is that ND has 19 committed and isn't scrambling to fill up spots. Linebacker is an example where I think the staff is going all out for a top recruit and if not they won't add an end of the cycle recruit.

Postponed due to state playoffs. They lost so he'll be free to take visits in December (maybe for the Echoes).

We only have a few weekends left to host visitors for the 2018 cycle...

12/2
12/9 Echoes
12/16
1/13
1/20
1/27
2/3

Should be plenty of time to try and get the 5-6 guys to make this team better!

DB is more like 1-3 depending on who it would be, but we'll certainly be adding another CB, regardless of who that might be.

My guess: Tremble, NPF, Jones, Gordon, Bracy, Crim.

They take 6 more. If I'm picking it it's

1 - WR (Keys or ASB if he said yes before Keys gets on the plane)
2 - OL (NPF + Finn Dirstine I mean Luke Jones)
2 - CB (Gordon + Bracy)
1 - S (Griffith)

But it's first come first served. If Oweh says yes, someone above losses a spot. Same goes for Wilson at Drop. I'd be done at LB otherwise.

QB - Done

RB - Done

WR - Keys &/or done

TE - Tremble

OL - NPF 50-50, Jones + a mystery recruit if NPF falls through.

DT - Done

DE - One will sign unless they run out of spots:
Wilson = Best chance
Oweh = Small chance
Ossai = Basically no chance,
Enagbare did he visit on the down low for Navy or cancel? = TBD but very small chance.
Someone Else = Hmmmm... a better chance than most think

LB: One of the following or None. My guess is it's None vs the field.
Wilson = Above with the Drops
PooPoo = Very small chance
Holifield = Very small chance unless he visits and then who knows?

CB:
Gordon = 40%
Bracy = 99% if cleared so 50-50 until then.
Mystery Recruit = Higher than I suspect probably. If one of the above doesn't make it maybe they take Crim as a swing DB.

Saftey = Griffith and maybe Crim if other things fall through.

FWIW, I believe I am correct with these dates and assumptions for players announcements...

CA WR Amon-Ra St. Brown: Jan. 6th at the Army AA game
OR WR Chase Cota: Dec. 18-20th, he is an EE
LA WR Lawrence Keys III: NSD most likely
GA TE Tommy Tremble: Anytime, no set date
TN OL Cade Mays: Dec. 20th, he is an EE
FL OL Nicholas Petit-Frere: NSD most likely
AR OL Luke Jones: Committed to Arkansas, but if he flips anytime
CA LB Solomon Tuliaupupu: NSD most likely
NC LB Payton Wilson: Committed to UNC, but if he flips anytime
FL CB Houston Griffith: Committed to FSU, but if he flips around Thanksgiving
WA CB Kyler Gordon: No set date, expected before NSD
CA CB Julius Irvin: No set date, expected before NSD
CA CB Tariq Bracy: No set date, expected before NSD
FL S Avonta Crim: A few weeks if he makes the grade

Thanks for the list. On Houston, is that a guess? I doubt he's set a flip time, at least publicly.

Guesstimate because he'll be home from IMG and is supposed to meet with the staff again sometime while he's in Chicagoland.

You said it was a done deal if he's allowed to EE.

What changed?

Maybe nothing. Just waiting to see if he visits again and/or coaches go to see him. This one is going to take a little time to play out.
