If Kelly remains coach for three years, Wimbush is guaranteed 10 wins next year, but he will devolve for his second and third starting season.

If Kelly stays this next year, and leaves who knows?

Wimbush starting for his first season is reason enough to keep Kelly for one more season.

Does this quote need italics, or not?

What's John Harbaugh's record with second year QBs?

So, nice finish.

LOSSES
  • DE Robert Beal (95) - Georgia
  • CB Paulson Adebo (92) - Stanford
  • CB Elijah Hicks (89) - CAL
  • LB Pete Werner (89) - OSU
  • DT Donovan Jeter (89) - Michigan
  • WR Jordan Pouncey (85) - UNCOMMITTED

WINS
  • S Jordan Genmark-Heath (8649) - Cal - COMMITTED 1/26/17
  • WR Jafar Armstrong (8709) - Missouri - COMMITTED 1/29/17
  • PK Jonathan Doerer (7902) - Maryland - COMMITTED 1/29/17
  • LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah (8721) - Virginia - DECOMMITTED 1/23/17 - SIGNED 2/01/17
  • DE Kofi Wardlow (8427) - Maryland - SIGNED 2/01/17

To be clear, the flips don't really replace the losses but the new staff is only responsible for the last couple weeks, not last year.

6 commits in 6 days. 5 flips. I think this thread was not the ugly mess many thought it would be. My favorite flip is Owusu but I think all 5 may prove important.

Agreed, Jafar was a great get as well. Also, I wish Jeter no luck in college.

Yeah. They closed pretty well, all things considered. I think Heath is going to be a ballplayer.
Of the losses, only Adebo really bothers me. Beal and Jeter feel like they were barely even committed here.

Some in this thread have stated what you heard from Elko, Lea, and Long. They want kids that want to be here. Particularly Long and Lea said it, Lea very eloquently, they would rather have players that want to be here and develop them, than have kids that may be very highly rated, and aren't in if for anything, how did he say if, "for anything but what the school can do for them."

There is a theme I am starting to hear, from a few recruits, from Elston, and specifically from the new coaches, that it is about going to Notre Dame to develop into a complete and well rounded person. Not to get a shot at the NFL, or any other individual, personal benefit.

Frankly I think Kelly and some of the earlier recruiters tried that, and it had the really poor results that some of you identified above, particularly with the results of the '13 class.

Of course some of the problem with the '13 class, was player development. Some of those kids just didn't get what they needed.
