Apologies for asking this as I have not followed basketball this season.

Is Bonzi done for the season? Or will he be able to come back for the home stretch?

Nothing for certain but there is hope he can be back for the ACC tourney. He is scheduled for an xray Wednesday to determine if he can get out of his walking boot and begin jogging. I think it's also been mentioned that he could dress and start senior night, but come out of the game right away so he can receive an ovation.

Great win yesterday.

- Rex played his best overall game that I can remember in an ND uniform. Was very good offensively, and was stellar defensively. Of course, it helped when he realized a mugging was in order inside of 15 feet to draw a foul, so he started swinging his arms at every shot.

- Burns played a heck of a game as well. His 15 footer when we were only up three was probably the shot of the game. Did very well when matched up against the 7'3" kid.

- All our bigs played tremendous defense today. Especially whomever was in at the 4. I know our bigs hedged really well, but I was more impressed with how they were able to keep Cofer in front of them, as I thought that was going to be a huge mismatch. This could really help us Monday against Maye and UNC.

It was easy to give up after the NC State debacle, but, at that point in time, if you were to rank our remaining games, it would have went Virginia, UNC/NC State, Everyone else in a random order. NC State was playing great basketball after getting Johnson back, and we just returned Farrell and lost Mooney.

We still have a shot. I expect us to lose Monday, but hopefully we come out of it healthy. @Wake, @BC, Miami, Pitt are ALL winnable games. We will probably be favored in all but at BC. Hell, watching VT beat Virginia yesterday gave me hope.

We get 3 of those 4, and get a game in the ACC tournament, I still think we're in. IF Bonzie plays in the ACC Tournament.

If they get 3 of those 4 that you are hoping for and get Bonzi back @ 90%+ for the ACC tourney, I'm confident they'll win at least 2 of them. Others being forced to contribute now is making them only better as a team. Yes, the Irish need ALL back and in fairly good health for the ACC tourney though!

Serious question, does the college basketball tournament committee take injuries into consideration like the football playoff committee supposedly does? I mean this isn’t just a team missing a starter, he was pre-season ACC player of the year. I would hope a player of this caliber coming back (hopefully) down the stretch pulls a lot of weight in their eyes.

For us, as the team with the injured player, yes. They will factor Bonzi/Farrell/Harvey being out in the discussion.

But, for teams that beat us the injuries do not exist. The committee will only look that they beat Notre Dame, not that they beat us without Colson or Farrell or Harvey if I understood correctly.

Yes. In fact the hoops committee puts more weight on players missing in action for whatever reason than football. They make it well known.

For whatever reason? One player has so much more impact on basketball than football it is not even funny. 1/5th of the action versus 1/11th of one third of the action? Its so far from debatable I can't fathom someone questioning it.

Good guys going to win tonight. They got their mojo back and have a chip on their shoulder from letting the UNC game get away at home. Mooney is overdue for game. UNC coming off Duke and NCST for third game in five days - with a minimal bench. I think they are ripe for the picking. 9.5 point spread is ridiculous - UNC isn't that good, nor are we that bad.

15-10 overall, 5-7 in the ACC. 4-2 finish puts us at .500 in league play and very much in our grasp. Everyone has UNC and UVA locked down as losses - the other four games we can run. Beating UNC gives us room for a let down in there which I think we will need. Finishing 3-3 isn't the end of the world though - 2 ACC tourney wins with that is a dance ticket IMO.

I agree we can go 4-2 IF we play the way we have been the past 2 games also add Harvey coming back on Saturday that will boost the scoring for us.

When I tweeted at joe lunardi awhile back he said he thinks the only way we get into tourney is if we get bonzie back and win some games in the ACC tournament. Let’s hope the X-ray on Wednesday is good news

Honestly if the dominos fall in our favor we could be a leather team come tournament time. We know at beginning of year when everyone is healthy this was a top 15 team maybe even top 10. And most likely we would probably end up in the 10-12 seed range giving us a chance to upset some teams which with the experience this team has in the tourney I could see us getting to second weekend maybe further....

ACC has seven teams within 2 games of .500 in conference play - if we win tonight it becomes eight. The middle of the ACC is a total cluster and the committee is not sending a dozen ACC teams to the Big Dance. It will be interesting to see what happens.

Oh I agree 100% but let’s be honest with bonzie healthy are team is way better then any other middle of the pack ACC team. Will the committee give us the benefit of the doubt idk that remains to be seen

If we finished 3-3 down the stretch, that would mean we would be a 10 or 11 seed (or worse) in the ACC tournery. If that is the situation, there is no way 2 wins in the ACC tourney would get us in. The two wins would be against a bad seed (most likely #14 or #15) and against a mediocre team (most likely #6 or #7).

If we were a 9 seed or better in the ACC tourney, then the two wins would be much more impressive. If we are a 10 seed or worse, we would need at least 3 wins in the ACC tourney to get any serious consideration for the NCAA tourney with a 7-9 conference record.

Idk if anyone looks at teamrankings.com but it gives your projections and odds to win and for us it has us winning 4 more games in the regular season. But it says we need to get to 21 wins to have a 47% chance to make the tourney which makes sense. I don’t think it bring in the factor of not having bonzie but just to give you an idea where we need to be. I think we have to go 4-2 down the stretch and win atleast 2 games and maybe 3. If we win the third it’s gonna be against a high seed tournament team so that would be huge.

Tonight’s game is really huge. If we can win tonight it takes a ton of pressure of the rest of season also add the fact that we are gonna have amazing momentum

Hanging around so far with Carolina without much contribution from Farrell or Gibbs. Mooney 3-3 from 3 off the bench. Geben to the bench early with 2 fouls.

Down only 4 thanks to Mooney 5-5 from 3. Farrell and Gibbs have combined for 7 FTs, no FGs. Again some really bad shot selection by some of the leaders.

Mooney 5-5 from 3. Wow.

FTs have killed ND this year. Torres may as well hand the ball over to the other team when he gets a shot at the charity stripe. Gross.

Farrell 0-9 ouch. Playing like a 2 star PG. Mooney having a Bonzie at Cameron Indoor type game.

The fact we are only down 4 at UNC with Farrell and Gibbs combining for 0-13 you will take that any day of the week. Add pflueger with Gibbs and Farrell and they are combined 1-18

Got to love an official that makes an awful call, gets into a coach's face, then (just to show that "he's boss") makes an even worse call.

I don't think anyone would've imagined that an announcer would be saying "Notre Dame has to find a way to keep getting the ball to Mooney and Geben".

Amazing that we are still in this with the amount of players who look like they've never touched a basketball before. Brey is a wizard.
