ESPN Announces 2016 Lacrosse TV Schedule | Inside Lacrosse

Notre Dame has 8 games that will be broadcast on the ESPN networks.

Stupidly, the Notre Dame vs. Maryland game from California looks like it might be the only major game to not be broadcast because of rights/access issues with where it's being held and the format of the event.

Awesome! Love it. The game tomorrow will be streamed via und.com.
Surely the maryland game will be streamed somewhere?

Should be an absolute destruction with or without Kavanagh. If we don't win by something to the tune of 15-5 then things went horribly, horribly wrong somewhere.

Do you know anything about Kav? Honestly, that's what I am most curious to see....Does he play and how much...I think it will be a good indicator of his health status...

He's out. I'll contact some people after the game and find out what's up... new injury or old injury. Think it might be an ankle.

8-3 good guys at half.

Pretty dominant first half, although I would have liked to have seen them put the rock in the cage more there. Pretty sloppy second half. It totally looked like they lost focus. I also had to keep looking up numbers as there were a lot of new faces out there. Hopefully they take these two "scrimmages" they have to focus on getting better.
Any news on Kav?

Typical mid week trap game. Would agree, the Irish came out on fire. Liked their enthusiasm. However, despite dominating Q1 possession, rushed and misplaced a lot of shots Thought there were too many TOs especially from the middies. Attack struggled to beat their poles from behind. Really miss Kav. Thought the D looked great in spots and questionable in others. Approaches on several slides were sloppy.

Second half was a debacle. Multiple failures to catch and throw and shoot accurately. Cleared the ball to the crease assisting the opposition. Wing effort on FOs was commendable all game. Need to tighten (catching and throwing) up their game and be more disciplined (2 unsportsmanship penalties) to show well versus Detroit.

In closing, this team will have to overachieve to make the FF if Kav is not healthy and on the field. Too one dimensional offensively.

Kavanagh has a knee injury, apparently aggravated knee injury he picked up in the offseason. So he's not 100%, and I don't know if he'll be 100% the rest of the year. He's definitely going to miss at least this weekend.

Offense looks like it's searching for a QB/facilitator at attack without Kavanagh. Missing him and having Dyole gone means both QBs from last year aren't here, and not having someone who can routinely beat their pole. Reminds me of the middie-driven offenses of years past.

Agree with basically everything you said. I think the offense needs to settle on Garnsey being "the man" in Kavanagh's absence because he has a lot of ability even if undeveloped. Good dodger both ways and can create. Not really sure what to think on Lubo... a lot a like, and a lot that gives me pause.

That is NOT what I wanted to hear. That really sucks. Hopefully he can take some time off, get back into LAX shape and be close to 100% come crunch time. Really going to be disappointing if he can't be the difference maker we all know he is!

Lubo and Wynne are finishers, not primary carriers or feeders. Ryder needs to lift extra all season and work on his game for the Irish to have a balanced offense. If Kav can't play, maybe play Collins at attack when the 2nd and 3rd lines are in. IMHO he's the most polished middie on the team. Can pass and shot. Middies in general need a lot of work getting their hands free and making pinpoint accurate passes.

The thing with Lubo though is that he's a very good passer. He has primarily been a facilitator on EMO and very good in his role. My main problem is that against Georgetown he had 4 very high percentage scoring opportunities and missed all of them... then he comes back against Bellarmine with 4 goals. So which kind of player do we get the rest of the year? And in a world without Kavanagh, does the offense function at a high level? Because the offense is designed to have Kav as the primary ball carrier and you have to figure something out before you go to play a good defensive team like Maryland if he can't go.

Collins has a lot of talent but I don't think he's that polished and he's also good as a two-way player so I don't know how much you can really run him. He had four turnovers against Bellarmine and the rest of the starting six had 1 turnover combined, so while he's creating offense he's also not taking care of the ball enough IMO.

I think you need to double down on Garnsey or Marini. Marini was really good in the fall in the little I saw, so how can we get him to play with confidence in real games?

I like having one or two alpha attackmen that can drive, create and dish. If's Kav can't do it, you'll need to coach up Ryder, Lubo or Marini. Lots of extra reps against the top scout team cover guys. They'll need to get pushed hard and be forced to nail down their dodges and feeding mechanics and timing against ACC caliber defenders. I would also do a lot of two man tactics (force D to switch) ala Denver. Lastly, I don't like losing Collins from the midfield as he's the best two way player they have.

ND won 14-5 today... was up 13-2 in the 4th. Played reserves for very long stretches of time today and Mikey Wynne still had 6 goals, Perk had 4.

Kavanagh played but was not close to full strength. Didn't ride hard, looked slow... but no brace? Hopefully he's closer to 100% for Maryland. I think Lubo might've gotten hurt because he didn't feature in the game after the early going and didn't play on EMO (Marini took his place).

Replay is available on UND.

This will be ND's biggest test of the year so far on D.

Landis, Glazener and Epple vs Cannizzaro, and Miller. Whoa buddy.

Atrocious first quarter. 4-1 Denver. Bad officiating and the defense is playing like absolute ass without Epple.

And Kavanagh is hurt. This team needs a come-to-jesus talk for the offense because nothing they do makes any sense.

Their goalie seems to be outplaying Doss. Badly.

It's much more about our bad shooting and the fact that Epple's replacement has made a lot of killer mistakes. Also, officiating is just garbage.

The defense seems to have settled down a bit...the offense strikes me as a bigger problem at the moment (esp. turnovers, ground balls, etc).

It's hard to come back against a team with a faceoff guy like that and when you can't get a ground ball. If we hadn't let in that garbage goal that let them tie it we probably win.

I've only been watching ND lacrosse for two years and I'm tired of losing to Denver in OT. Enough of this.

One other thing: I still don't understand why lacrosse OT is sudden death. In other sports where possession is not very fluid and the chances of scoring on a possession are decent (basketball and football) OT is timed and both teams have a chance to score. OT is sudden death in sports such as soccer and hockey where possession changes constantly and the odds of scoring on a given possession are low.

It seems to me that lacrosse belongs in the former group. I have never played lacrosse, though, so I would like to hear a good defense of the current rules from someone who knows more.

And yeah, the last three games against Denver have definitely colored my opinion about this.

Also, Notre Dame dropped one spot/held at #2. Big game this weekend against UVA, followed by a big game against Ohio State. These are big games because they're both lowly ranked but talented... can't afford to lose either one. Notre Dame's RPI is currently an abysmal #16.
