That can't be right. Unless the staff starts converting Safeties, we'll only have 9/16 LBs on scholarship heading into 2014. Taking only 3 leaves us at 12/16. If Martini isn't counted as one of the 3, that gets us closer to an acceptable number, but it's still puzzling.

Since Miclisse is an ILB, I'm hoping Alford meant 3 ILBs in this cycle.

As am I. This would make alot more sense.

Barton Simmons at the NLA Las Vegas 7-7
Dalton Schultz is no joke. Big athletic TE that has shown Great hands. Snoop All Stars striding to contain him.

Rivals reported we offered him a couple days ago

Nathan Starks is also at the NLA

Sam Hubbard (ND Lax commit with a couple BCS football offers) is visiting OSU for spring practice.

I have a feeling this is going to become a interesting story to follow.

Sounds like he already did:

So just a short time ago we thought we would have a small class, now the number is up to what? 21?

In some ways the transfers almost insure we continue to use some more double TE sets, which is something that does not upset me at all. In fact I believe it does nothing but help us from where we are talent wise. I was personally expecting a WR transfer at some point because of the outrageous numbers that came in over the past 2 years. Still a lot of talent in the WR corps but it certainly opens up spots for those versatile athletes that can play both ways.

I think the 2 TE's are good in the Red zone and short yardage downs. But the long plays with take a hit i believe.

“@BMatt247: Auburn HS LB Rashaan Evans picked up 26th offer from Notre Dame today (Free/Mobile) Rashaan Evans via @247Sports”

I'll make a thread tommorow if no one makes it tonight.

I wonder if the staff purposely started slow with a minimalist attitude due to the original low number + the thought we'd capitalize on some top blue chippers due to the season last year.

Either way, I'm not all that worried. Even if this class turns out to be no-frills, it will be solid. As long as they score well in the defensive front 7, I'll be happy this year.

Pretty cool that you can see some of the predictions 24/7 staff on some of these prospects. For instance:

1. Hamilton, Wiltfong, Niebuhr and Perroni all predict Braden Smith to ND (Brewster has the lone A&M prediction).

2. Simmons, Niebuhr and Hamilton predict Ju Ju Smith to ND, with Schrader (big surprise) and Hopkins going with USC, and JC for UCLA.

3. Wiltfong and Simmons predict Luatua to ND, while JC and Hopkins pick Bama and Niebuhr goes with USC.

4. Everyone picks Jeb to Clemson

5. Most believe Hood to UNC

6. Wiltfong, JC and Hamilton think Starks to ND, with Hopkins going with Oklahoma

Among others. Nice to easily see where analysts think things stand.

That's a positive update for ND fans. I do find it funny that Schrader and even Hopkins to some degree very rarely think a west coast kid will ever come to ND.
