Title says it all, general lacrosse talk for anyone who cares goes here......
but the real reason why I'm starting this thread is to LOL at Michigan who is getting beat 13-9 by super crappy and 0-2 Detroit Mercy.
This would be like Notre Dame getting beat by the Holy Cross club team.
And you want to know how much of a joke Michigan lacrosse/Wolverine1997 are? This is the inaugural game of their program and they couldn't even get someone to live blog the game. Pathetic. Sad. Disappointing.
For referrence, first year program Jacksonville (Go Dolphins!) started off their program with a win over #9 Denver in 2010 in their first couple games... and first year program Bryant (Go Bulldogs!) went a healthy 10-5 in their first season of play in 2009. MCLA "powerhouse" Michigan is getting handled by Little Little Brother (yes, even more little than Michigan State).
As I said in the earlier thread (which has since been locked for good reason) they have a bad coach, they just don't know it yet. The man has never spent a day around big time lacrosse and has no idea what he's doing. Nice move Dave Brandon.
The game was basically a detroit home game. Had to buy tickets through them, detroit wore their home jerseys. The crowd was about 60% red & blue and 40% Maize and Blue. Not an excuse since Michigan has played in tougher environments than that.
Saw a tweet earlier that there was an estimated 1800 people there. Not a tough environment at all for Michigan.
Did you really think that Michigan was going to continue to destroy teams like they have the past three plus years?
This season is going to very, very rough. It's a club team transitioning to varsity. I'm calling a win right now against mercer and a win at home against bellarmine.
It's not going to be pretty for a couple of years, but I believe this program will become a power someday. Not anytime soon, but in the future.
I was actually at the game in Pontiac. It was Michigan up 3-2 after one, and tied 5-5 at halftime. The detroiters outscored Michigan 8-4 in the second half. Michigan played pretty well. I expected something like this today but I'm actually pleased with today.

The schedule doesn't get much easier. Next week Michigan travels to #17 penn state who just lost a pretty good neutral site game against #6 north carolina. Michigan will play the tar heels in their season finale.
Doug Bryant scored the first ever official Michigan Lacrosse goal at 10:09 of the first quarter. History was made today. And I'm proud of the boys!
I enjoyed talking lacrosse with you so I could get a sense of how some of the teams on Michigan's schedule are since I'm new to NCAA-level lacrosse. Also I don't appreciate the shot at me, but I expect it. It makes me smile.
Heh damn right you have to expect ribbing coming on a Notre Dame board and posting something about Michigan!!!! I know, it's childish to needle people and take shots... but it's also funEspecially when our football team gives us very little to talk trash about.
I honestly wonder if Brandon is aiming to keep Paul for 2-4 years while he continually tests the waters for a big time coach like Pressler or Cottle or even a big time assistant (like Gerry Byrne from ND... the man is a defensive genius) who he will then hire to try to bring the team up to the next level. It's just never going to get there under Paul. He doesn't have the pedigree or experience or roots needed to make this team consistently competitive.
Also, I didn't get to watch the game because (sadly) the live feed was pay-per-view. How ridiculous is that?

Ton of talent in the North East!Looks like Boston is adding DI lacrosse. Pretty interesting to see... there is a lot of talent in the New England area now and days. I'm a bit surprised to see the Terriers adding a program before BC though... although, Title IX makes it damn near impossible for BCS football schools to add a men's lacrosse program unless they have oodles of cash lying around to also add a women's program of some sort. It's really sad that there are 50% more women's DI programs even though less than half as many women play HS lacrosse. 4:1 ratio of imbalance because of an outdated rule.... sad....

Does the USILA coaches poll come out every week? I thought it would be up today with new rankings?
Also, which is the more credible or the poll that most people go by? Is it the coaches poll or Inside Lacrosse?
I'm new to the whole NCAA rankings thing![]()
Michigan lost to #17 penn state today, 16-9 on the road.
Michigan was only down 4-2 at halftime but things fell apart in the 3rd like last week.
Michigan goes to #5 denver next weekend (gulp). They will play two games in a row.
Saturday at #5 Denver 11:30am EST start time
Sunday against Air Force (Neutral site game at Barton Lacrosse Stadium in Denver) 9am EST start time.
I'm glad Michigan did not give up today. They easily could have but they kept fighting back and put up 9. This is going to be a very long season if the boys don't play ALL 4 quarters.

We just got done destroying #1 Duke ourselves...
Go Irish!
I saw the score. You guys manhandled them. Shocked to see ND hold them to 3 goals.
I think the logo on ND's lax field. Looks sharp how it's gold with the blue outline. If you get turf at ND stadium, they should but that design at midfield.
Wow. ohio upsets denver, 10-9.
There should be a shot clock or something in college lacrosse. It was cheap how ohio held onto the ball for some five minutes just killing time.
Maybe once the dinosaurs have moved on...
They have really acute vision as well, so no need for jumbotrons exist until we've extinct the ND T-Rexes.
Wow!
I can't believe I didn't watch this game..... I honestly thought Denver would tool them. Can you give me a recap of what happened? A lot of stall ball by Ohio State? Was it in Denver or Ohio?
I honestly thought Ohio State would be pretty down this year after Schuss transferred... I guess we'll see. Not surprised OSU put up 10 goals but I'm VERY surprised Denver only put up 9.
We don't "desperately need" anything. I would like a jumbotron, but I'm fine if we don't get one. And I sure as hell don't want any logos on the field - it takes away from its simplistic beauty and tradition. You wouldn't understand anything about that, being a scUM fan.
