That is a pretty good looking defense. Still very green in the backfield but a somewhat talented 3 deep.

The front 7 is going to be sick.

If the NFL has a season...both are gone. However, I just do not see either leaving to enter the draft early if there is a lockout.

The reason I think it is going to happen is the owners want the lockout...not the players.

The NFL owners would receive $5 billion from its network television deals even if no games are played in 2011.

As of a couple of weeks ago, the head of the players union thinks it is going to happen.

Talk about a major buzzkill. On the eve of the 2010 NFL regular season, the head of the players' union reiterated his belief that the league is headed for a lockout in 2011. "I still feel that a lockout is coming in March," NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith told Bloomberg News.​

I think there is a 10% chance there is a 2011 season for the NFL.

The defense could have real nice 1a, 1b, 1c type action going on for rotations. That would be awesome.

If a lockout helps the Irish so be it, but I like the NFL, and sorry fellas but not having a team in KC combined w/ the (seems like) nearly year long season, I couldn't care less about hockey.....For the lean and mean linebacker comment, watch Alabama, or the NFL teams that use the 3-4 defense, the lb's are mean and fast, but they are usually pretty big, especially the outside guys. Most 3-4's ideally have a bigger pass rushing hybrid olb/de, and a smaller better pass dropping olb, a big tough MLB, and a MLb that is also big and tough, but more athletic and playmaking....basically Fleming/Neal...Smith/Filer....Carlo/McDonald...and Manti....now the Irish's is a little different obviously Fleming and Neal are playing together....anyway sorry for the long post, a lot of peeps seem to be a little confused about where guys we are recruiting are gonna play, or what type of guys we should be trying to get....Not that my analysis is the end-all, just m.h.o.

Forgot about Bullard. He is going to add some good depth after being in the system for a while.

My crystal ball is way too foggy for this, but I make one bet at least: Nkwanko will not get a 5th year and that spot will be Kona Schwenke's. As to minor predictions: I wouldn't bet against Shembo taking a starting job---I know that the board is in love with Filer, and I wish him the best, but I'd watch out for Shembo. Nuss will almost certainly be kept, Kelly likes him just as a good player, and as a flexible guard&tackle type. Spond will be hard to shove backwards on the two-deep; he has impressed the staff. Josh Atkinson won't have to back up two positions, as we'll get another DB [I'd never be "Lyon" to you]. Carrico and 6'8' Tony Springman will "answer" your O-line ???s Oh the wonders of prediction when there are little realities to restrict the full flow of imagination. Hopefully none of you will remember any of this next year.

I'm thinking we'll end up seeing Josh Atkinson as a lock down corner that ends up in the 2 deep, and Hardy as a premier safety, who will cause a rotation in the deep secondary.

Just my opinion, your mileage may vary.
