8-5 at best buddy. I'm thinking 7-6...

I know it's better than most think, but we have a few cupcakes on the schedule. And that's assuming we win our bowl game.

H - Pudue - W

H - Michigan - W, both teams will be better. We should win, but we should have won last year too, its at home though.

A - MSU - W

H - Stanford - Toss up.

A - BC - W

H - Pitt - L, hate to say it, they are still pretty good.

H - WMU - W

N - Navy - W, we better get back to mopping the floor with navy.

H - Tulsa - Toss up, If I remember correctly, they are a pass happy team. If I remember correctly, our pass defense wasn't that good last year. However, it is hard to have a good pass defense when you rush 7 and still don't get to the quarterback. Just a tough call. ND does tend to lose games they are supposed to win by Brian Kelly wins game he is supposed to win.

H - Utah - W

N - Army - W

A - USC - L, still a good team, but Kiffen is stupid enough to make this team lose.

That is 8 wins, 2 losses, and 2 toss ups.

I am saying 8 and 4 or or 10 and 2 regular season.

I did drink some kool aid this morning though...

I have no clue. With a new coaching staff and a new system, I will reserve a prediction this season.

Oh come on IrishinFL, throw a guess out!!

I am an admitted total homer, and a very optimistic person, that being said, I think with the talent on this team, combined w/ THIS staff I really feel we are ready to shock some people.

Purdue @ home=W
Mich. @ home=W
@ Mich. St. (@ night, big game)=Toss up, L
Stanford @ home
and B.C. away...I say we split em=1 W, 1 L
Pitt @ home=My bold predicition for B.K.'s first big W, The Curse of the Wannstache returns!!! = Irish W
Turns into winning the next 5 only one I am worried about is Utah.
Then the loss to Pete's boys that are too talented for Kiffin to screw up (this year, we will get them soon, and often.)
So I say = 9-3 then we win our bowl game, and double digit wins in the first year ain't bad!!

This is exactly what I was going to say.

- We have top 15 talent...if you trust Scout and Rivals. Charlie could recruit.
- We have really smart kids who can probably pick up a new system quickly. We are ND.
- BK has turned around programs, and he has done it quickly.
- We aren't starting from nothing. We were basically a .500 team, not a 2-9 team.
- But, these are still college kids in their first year of a new system and new coaches.

Conclusion: Who the hell knows?

I hate to say this...but I think I might be happy if we win 9 games at most this year.
I only say this because the last 3 coaches we have had have won 10 games their first year if I'm not mistaken, and look how they turned out.....

Im an admitted homer of ND as well..and would love to say we go undefeated or 12-1...but i think realistically we'll be 9-4 with a bowl win.

All good points. The thing about being .500 last year is we could have easily won just about every game we lost. I mean had a chance to tie USC. Had Stanford beat the entire game. UCONN was a joke. Turnovers killed us against Navy. Again though you could look at it from the other side and say we could have lost more of those games then we won. Having to come from behind. I mean we hammered Wash St and Nevada but other than that every other game was fairly close.

Well, if you must know some of my predictions, we should change this thread to a bold predictions thread. Last season I predicted that Tate would win the Bilitnikof award. I was correct.

This year, my bold prediction is that Kyle Rudolph wins the Mackey award.

Fair enough, I agree if Kyle stays healthy that is a very good prediction.

Wow, 3 home losses?? IF ND looses 3 home games this year, I would suspect that they'll lose more than 1 away game (in addition toe U$C, other big 'road' games are BC and Mich. St.)!

Ty Willingham's first year: 10 wins
Charlie Weis's first year: 9 wins
Brian Kelly's first year: 10 wins

Bank it at 10 wins... Its always a good first year for ND coaches.

This year my bold prediction is that ND has something it hasn't had since 1982, a top ten defense! That, seven home games, and at least two offensive All-Americans is all I need. Not a bit sure I will care about the final record this year!

You have to play road games to lose them.

7-5 with a bowl win. Losses to USC, Pitt, Boston College, Michigan State, and Stanford.

That's definitely a more bold prediction than the one I gave. I hope our defense is that good.

Here is my logic: Turns out there is a wealth of defensive talent just begging to be pointed in the right direction; everything about defense was "hushed" going into the spring game (and coming out of it); last year Cincinnati with little returning experience and a very shallow bench turned in top ten performances in what categories? How did it fair statistically compared ND's defense? Then look at the talent that ND feeds this year’s 3-4. Oh and if the offense jells . . . playing with a lead, that is its own advantage. Then there is that funny feeling.

I'm a skeptical homer. I set myself up for a helluva fall(no pun intended) last year with expectations. I will not do that again.

I want a competitive football team and a coach that can lead. I hope to see snot bubbles galore, and I look forward to seeing if we have that dual threat weapon on offense, both from a run/pass look as well as two different threats receiving with someone other than Floyd catching the football and making plays.

I think Rudolph will be great minus the break away speed. Let's hope another speedster arises to the occasion.

On D, I look forward to seeing Manti getting after it. USC should hate seeing his stats. He's a legend in the making...

Kyle Rudolph is going to explode. Crist loves him. Rudolph had four catches in the first quarter of the spring game.
