Thanks. I wasn't sure of the correct format for everything but I figured I would just get the basic most important information up ASAP

Carson was excited by the offer, even though he has his share of top D-1 offers already.

The good news here is that he has an uncle who is a HS coach and knows someone at ND. It was his uncle who sent tape to ND for them to review.

Prior to the offer, Rutgers and PSU were the top 2 schools on his list. ND has now been added to that list.

He says he plans on visiting the campus later this summer

With this offer out am I correct in assuming either of the following:
1) we are taking 4 LBs this year, or
2) we don't sit pretty with the studs at the top?

Thoughts SoCal?

I recall reading that they were waiting on some more film before deciding to offer. Whether that was real or to delay an offer i don't know.

I suppose it is possible they feel they waited long enough for one of the first round of offerees to make a decision; again, I dunno.

However, something to keep in mind is that Carson is an ILB. The only other ILB offerees out there are Te'o and Barrett. Ever since Barrett left the Blue and Gold Spring game without committing the likelihood of him commiting has gone downhill fast. In fact, with Calabrese on board, his offer may no longer be actionable.

Jenkins, Jonathan Stewart and Barkevious Mingo are the remaing LB offerees, but they are all OLB.

I believe some recruits who are currently listed as safeties could also make the transition to OLB.

It does appear they are looking for 4 LBs though. With 2 in already, that goal could be met.

That would make him about a 23-24 yr old Jr in high school. Carlson just graduated from ND this kid is in H.S. Don't understand that rumor.

It came from WWB- that should explain it, di.

His voices donn't always think it through and he uses his outside voice.

Plus, it was John Carlson and the new recruit is Glenn Carson.

No, I'm standing 100% behind my source on this one, so what if he is a 23 yr old junior, he'sstill goot enough for us

hearing chatter from one of my NJ friends that Carson's rival hs wrestling coach is going to rutgers to coach and has some big pool with the wrestlers in the area. he seems to think Rutgers is a lock for Carson. anyone hearing this type of talk?

remember who those articles are written towards. Rutgers is likely one of his favorites since he is from Jersey and Rutgers has probably been recruiting him the longest.

ND has recruited kids who have strong in state ties. Getting him on campus for a visit will be necessary.

Without a visit we have no chance. But if he does visit, it wouldn't surprise me if he commits to ND.

the only thing that bothers me is that i think he had an uncle who was lobbying hard for him to get an offer. then once he got the offer there didn't appear to be any serious interest.

maybe it is b/c ND wanted him primarily at fullback (his other position in HS) and he wanted to play LB. but then why lobby for an offer if that turns you off?

i dunno. there's probably more than we know.

Good news. Carson, who seemed to have cooled on ND, informed the coaches that he plans on visiting with his mom for the Michigan game, Sept 13.

With so many current commits coming in for that game along with many 2009 offerees, this should be one heck of a recruiting weekend.
