And guys like Watts w/ decisions to make are going to want to know who their S&C coach will be. That’s the guy that will send them into the off-season w/ a plan to get bigger & faster for their final season.

Watts may go but he’ll be a 4th rounder at best IMO. If he came back next season and rounded out his mechanics at the safety position & still netted 3 interceptions, I think that’s a success and gets him up the draft board. If he declares early based on the 7 picks, he’ll be disappointed.

I was confused by Freeman’s comments in the last presser re Watts. He didn’t sound confident that Watts would be back but he said “he doesn’t consider himself to be a senior “
Can anyone interpret this for me?

Wasn't even nominated for the Thorpe. Crazy! But Q Nelson not getting the Outland is a genuine all time snub

He's the biggest of the stay or go decisions, imo.

And as good as he's been, think he's a guy that still has another level to reach. Gain some more experience and learn more from O'Leary and Golden.

And then pair him with a transfer that will consistently make tackles and catches the ball when he's in position to make a play.

It’s also not going to change how the NFL views him so if the NFL thinks he needs another year of development, it works out for all parties.

I don’t get it.

Our 3 Star WR who moved to Safety last year was the best defensive player in the country as a Safety, but our Safety coach should be fired because he has only signed 4 Stars since?

Seriously, I said before the season started that every season O’Leary has been a ND coach that preseason media says the Safties are a question mark, & every postseason says they were a pleasant surprise.

Got laughed at again this preseason.

Then a bunch, you know who you are, wanted him fired because “he doesn’t recruit.”
Despite him having signed nothing but 4 Stars, and that’s after two commits didn’t sign that were 100% out of his control (Bowen & Hillman).
And now he is getting top 50 talent (Taylor).

Dude can coach.

And like I said earlier in this thread, watched Watts play two games his Junior year when he led his team to the title, and was sold on him then. No idea he would be this good though.
