Todd Lyght seeing him today. ND's top of the board CB where there's serious interest. It appears from reading the local OC football sources that Phillips is one of those guys who's different enough to go Irish. I get that Elijah Hicks / Thomas Graham vibe. Yes... those two didn't end well but this isn't the 2017 cycle.

Was just with Elko for the 7OT LSU game...

Being recruited at CB but this kid's electric with the ball in his hands. 1200 yards receiving and unlimited potential in the return game.

Had 7 Int/3P6 as a Soph. (Had the 3 P6's vs Oregon's 6-5 WR Michael
Ezeike and a 9-2 Colony squad)

Had 2 Int's as a Jr. Allowed 0 TD's and 0 completions over 10 yds all season.

His film is off the charts. Forget what the services say, he's a 5* all around football player period.

Wondering if they take 3 CBs this year? May not be a bad idea if they do'tt move Wilkins back and Crawford is gone.

If Wilkins is at DB and Crawford is doing the 2 year grad school aka 6 years of college, then ND would need 4-5 guys for number purposes at DB. If one or more of them is not at DB in 2020 then they’ll need more. I think they will definitely be taking 3 CB’s if Wilkins and/or Crawford are not there in 2020. I hope right now they take 2 S’s, 2 CB’s and a swing CB/S. They are sending out a ton of DB offers right now and the board is clearly expanding so I think the staff is on a mission to take a decent amount of guys (don’t think it’ll be a small DB class). Clark Phillips III, Kristian Story, Enzo Jennings, Darius Snow, Makari Paige, Lathan Ransom and Jalen Kimber are a few of the guys that I would love to see in the class and ND has some traction with.

Has offers from Cal, Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, UCLA, Florida, Washington, Texas, and BYU. Has us in his Top 12 (still seems pretty open in his recruitment). There’s over 8 months til signing day. He’s the highest rated DB that ND even has a sniff at (maybe Fred Davis but I don’t believe that one). And yet ND is no longer recruiting him??? Why? Grades? Bad kid? I don’t understand these things?

If he actually does make it on campus in the next few weeks and then follows that up with an OV in the fall for a gameday then I think ND has as good of a chance as any, but that requires visit #1 to actually happen before visit #2 happens. I trust in Polian getting at least 2 west coast kids every cycle (Jalen McMillan, Clark Phillips, Xavier Carlton, and Jordan Botelho seem like some possibilities). Polian is a dynamite recruiter and even though he seemed to be sitting out most of the process last cycle, he obviously wasn't at all and snagged Isaiah Rutherford, Isaiah Foskey, and Marist Liufau late in the cycle!

Yeah, he has an SAT of 915 and a cGPA of 2.25 and has no foreign language classes. He does have the required ball room dancing though.

Not needed, but I asked because more than once over the years it's been reported that a recruit needed a foreign language or his gpa is low. I certainly wasn't expecting anyone to provide specific details.

His grades were still in question. I would have loved to see what he could have done for our return game. He was slippery.
