Va has been a hot bed for some solid DL guys the past few years. Good luck Irish Nation and close the deal with this one. He looks like another good one from that area.

He's a MLB propect per his request.

Fine, whatever. Get him to sign and them show him the average salaries of the top 10 NFL DE' vs the Top 10 MLB's. He'll figure it out real quick.

Hope not, that's the future Mrs. Jurkovec. HOF genetics all day.

Wiltfong joined the PSU analysts with a CB. That's 6 CB's for PSU and 1 or FSU.

Next to no chance ND lands him if all stays the same. Gotta keep recruiting him though in case Franklin goes to the NFL or something else program changing happens.

13 scholarship LBers
8 4* LBers
Only 2 exhausting eligibility after 2018
Loaded 4 man class in 2018

On top of all that, Brandon Smith comes from an FSU, Clemson, Penn State recruiting ground so not too crazy to think with all of those factors that Penn State could win that race. That’s not to diminish how dominant I think this kid will be and how good of a prospect he is, but I sort of understand there were a lot of different factors that made it tough for Lea and ND to get a foothold on this recruitment. If you look at the 2019 WR class you can see what bringing in a big time 2018 class can do to things. That also speaks to how impressive it is for ND to be bringing the talent they are at the DB level with what they brought in last season.

Please enlighten us.

I spoke about it in the above post. Nothing groundbreaking but that DMV area is a Penn State hotbed (Ricky Slade, Nana Asiedu, Devyn Ford, and Brandon Smith just the last two cycles in Virginia), we have 13 LBers on scholarship right now, and just brought in a loaded 4-man group he’d be right behind. Also he visited Penn State at least 5 times including a 110,000 person crowd for a game last season vs. seeing Notre Dame once on a 35°, rainy Wednesday in April and again for camp a year earlier over the summer. Again, I don’t think it’s anything earth shattering as to why ND couldn’t pull this off, but they were certainly fighting an uphill battle.

Thanks. From your wording I was reading something else into it besides the typical recruiting obstacles.
