Named First Team All-State by USA Today.
Lots of ND flavor. A lot of future ND targets on these teams too, including one I'd throw a CB at right now... Bryan Felter. Future captain at ND. Big, bold call right there.

I assume visiting some time this spring. Hopefully Quinn can show him the ways of the Irish!
A top 16 composite OT who is on the rise, I'll take it and I'd like three more please.
I'm waiting for his Sparty offer before I buy in.
“I’m taking a close look at Notre Dame, Wisconsin, and Minnesota,” Olmstead said. “Those are the main three right now. They are probably showing the most interest in me. There are a lot of SEC school that are coming in too.
“Coach Hiestand leaving doesn’t really do anything to my interest in Notre Dame,” he said. “If I were to go to Notre Dame it wouldn’t be because of him being there. Don’t get me wrong, coach Hiestand is a great coach and a great guy and I really liked him but, if I decided to go to Notre Dame it would’ve been because that’s where I wanted to be. I’m not choosing a school because of the coach.
“I’ve been in contact with coach Quinn, the offensive line coach, a lot and I’m building my relationship with him,” said Olmstead. “I still talk to coach Kelly a lot and coach Long too. I think I’ll back up there in the beginning of April for an unofficial visit.
“I went out to Wisconsin during the summer and fell in love with the school again,” he said. “The tradition with the offensive line there goes way back. They’ve always had a good offensive line and they treat their big guys well. I feel like I fit in well there but I don’t really know anybody that plays there. I met the running back that is from New Jersey (Jonathan Taylor) out there but that’s about it. My recruiter is coach Turner and I have a great relationship with him and coach Rudolph, the offensive line coach. We text a lot every week. I might be getting out there this spring during my spring break.
“Minnesota’s 2018 recruiting class their best in a while,” Olmstead said. “They have a great coaching staff and I have a very good relationship with coach Fleck and coach Rossi. They just got a new offensive line coach and I’ve been talking to him as well. The coaches are always upbeat and really excited about the kids they’ll be bringing in for the 2019 class. It’s a great place and I loved it when I was up there in February of last year. It’s one of those places I fell in love with. I like the people and the campus.
“LSU and Ole Miss have been really making a big impression lately,” he said. “A lot of the SEC schools are coming right now. I just got an offer from Michigan the other day. I’ve been talking with one of the coaches there for a while. He seems like a good dude and I liked him a lot. That’s a big school I definitely want to go out and visit. I definitely want to visit Ole Miss and LSU.
“With a lot of these new schools coming in I think my decision has been pushed back,” said Olmstead. “I might commit in the early signing period in December. I’ll still take all my official visits but some could be in the spring and the rest would be in the fall.”

Brian Dohn put in a ND cb. Hopefully this is one that holds some weight.

The school that wins Olmstead’s services won’t just be getting a gifted lineman with size 18 shoes who dead lifts more than 500 pounds, squats more than 400 pounds, benches 300 pounds and runs a five-second 40-yard dash and a 1.65-second 10-yard split. They’ll also be getting a phenomenal student with a 4.1 grade-point average who has an outstanding pedigree. Olmstead’s parents, Pat and John, both played college sports, with mom playing basketball and dad playing football, while his four older sisters all played college lacrosse, two at the Division I level.
Olmstead said his training regimen, which includes working out sometimes twice a day, including a routine that commences at 4 a.m., interfered with his ability to be a two-sport athlete.
“If I lose a day at the gym, someone else is getting better than me,” Olmstead said in explanation of his relentless work ethic, which he hopes eventually will translate into an NFL career.
A good read from about a week ago.

A couple of excerpts
The whole December commitment thingy still leaves me less than confident. Thought he said in the last few weeks he was pushing back his commitment and planned to take all his visits (including fall). Also said a few SEC schools had been making up a lot of ground.
IDK... either the kid likes the attention, changes his mind often, or just wants to play the game.... Anyway, the ND confidence just doesn't make sense to me based on what the guy has said in the last 10 days.
My feeling is that a lot of the CB's are just illustrating that we lead, at the moment. Like you stated, the kid himself plans to take his time, so I wouldn't assume this is over in short order, just because of the CB's.
Yup.
I don't doubt we lead. I just think that a lot of the "it's done" stuff is way overly optimistic. December is a long long time away.
Done, over, finished, wrapped up with a bow.
If you remember, I only gave him a 95+% chance of signing in Carroll's thread. You then came in all skeptical and shook my confidence so I down graded him all the way down to 93.5%. In an act of defiance, I am raising him to Carroll's 99% level.
Carroll and Olmstead will be 2019's Sarell and Little.
Ian Book it.
