Let's face it, anybody on this board could have gotten his early commitment. I know this for a fact.

Who knows what happens if his dream school (and his Dad's) steps up and claims the prize? Maybe he conducts himself differently? And before some of you remind me that ND doesn't just offer people without fully vetting them and their grades and their transcrits an their - stop - and repeat after me...

What good does that really do? Win a recruiting prize that isn't even real. The goal is to get guys that will productive at ND on Saturdays.

I have to disagree here. As we've seen, a lot of those borderline prospects that the BK and staff went all out for early in his tenure didn't pan out. It's not just winning the recruitments, it's keep them in school, engaged in the process, and eligible. This was literally said about all of those guys.

I disagree in this case. Guys like this are worth the effort and a lil brain damage EARLY in the process. You never know what your (ND's) early involvement would have done to his mentality.

This is a nice idea, but I think BK said "no thanks" after his experiences with Aaron Lynch, Davonte Neal, etc.

I *sounds* like it might be worth the time and effort to hold a guy's hand if he might be a star, but ND has seen evidence to the contrary several times in recent memory.

I'm not gonna fault them for seeing red flags and saying "nah, it's not worth it."

Well this is a good first step in being able to land 5*'s on a regular basis. Having #1 Overall's enter the recruiting process with ND as their dream school is sure to work out sooner or later.

Hopefully whatever happened between Camp Alfano and the staff becomes public someday.

If this kid wasn't a fit for ND why recruit him? ND has struck out big time with "5*" kids-- Aaron Lynch, Gunner Kiel, Davonte Neal, Ishaq Williams and these are kids that enrolled at ND.

If you want to recruit a 5* kid like Kyle Hamilton I am all in-- he has a different personality than the players above.

I am with Lucky on this one and kid's that want "hand holding" don't usually end up at ND.

If we're going to actually field a full roster going forward, be it by grey shirt or other means, I'm happy to pass on the guys that are more of a risk....

but...

If not, I'm perfectly OK with hand holding one or two guys a year if they are true studs. We lose kids every year. What does it matter if we lose a 3 star who got buried on the depth chart, or a 5 star who couldn't cut it in the classroom. I'm happy to take a chance on a few guys. I'd assume they have about the same chance of making it at ND academically as some of the academically good but performance reaches/projects we gamble every cycle.

some kids may surprise, and could be a victim of crappy schools, parents who don't care about books, etc..

How many times have these "problem recruits" been the #1 prospect in his class who publicly admitted ND was his dream school... 3 years before ESP?

BK should either get over that or stop talking about winning National Championships as being one of the goals.

You know what they say, 3rd times a charm. I assume he'll be setting up his ND OV for when Spring practice commences again.
