Whether it’s four or five, the point is the same. We’re stacked at OL this class, and either we’re telling him we’re full or he’d rather go someplace with a bit less traffic on the road to playing time.
If it’s the former, then at least the coaches have some control over the situation and can keep working him if they want to.

Isn't ND looking for an OT to finish this OL class?

Yes and no. Quinn Carroll is the Tackle/Guard. If they get Saleem (which they won't now) they would take Rouse who I would say is similar to Quinn, but could potentially play LT.

IMHO:

- ND is looking for elite OT prospects, like everyone else.
- ND really, really loved Wormley, but ended up going 3 for 3 on Quinn, Olmstead, and Correll, so really just don't need him. He's a pure luxury. So they'd take him, but won't push.
- Rouse confirmed that Rouse is a prototype LT, who is already bigger than Kristofic (not sure who has a higher ceiling). But he goes to a hyper-elite DC prep. school and will fall in love with Stanford b/c that is what kids from those schools do.
- Wormley goes to PSU.
- Rouse goes to Stanford.
- ND dabbled throughout the year, but gets the 4 we currently have--which is very good.

While Penn St doesn't have the depth at OT ND does, it has a wealth of IL's where he projects. As much as most like Wormsley, he'd be going into the same class at PSU as the #2 OG in the country (and former ND dreamer who didn't get offered) Caedan Wallace.

If his reported 6.2 second 40 time is real...I can't see how he can be elite at the P5 level, especially at OT.

Look at 24/7's retrospective review of rankings/draft position based on measureables. It's fascinating it doesn't bode well for non-athletic linemen. Really poor 40 times are a negative indicator.

The best hit rate on guards is usually the 6-3--6-4/270--275, 3*/88-89 range. Shocking how many come out of MSU/IU/Iowa/WI.

OT's are best in the 6-5.5--6-7, 275--285 range.

Penn St has done a great job building their interior line

5* - Michael Menet - So-RS - #28 OA
4* - CJ Thorpe - Fr-RS - #89 OA ---- Hinish & Adams' teammate
3* - Mike Miranda - Fr-RS - #445 OA
4* - Juice Scruggs - Fr - #233 OA --- Bauer's teammate
4* - Caedan Wallace - '19 - #90 OA - Committed
4* - Saleem Wormsley - '19 - #284 OA - Committed
4* - Jakai Moore - '19 - #339 OA - Lean

No secret HH didn't like this type of prospect. Hated to see ND not go after Wallace when he showed interest. Will be interesting to see how Quinn recruits inside in '20. Will he target OG/C guys for the IL or will he continue HH's method of moving swing OT's inside?
