I agree, but to play devil's advocate, if Duke's out of it there's not much of a reason for him to wait past September anyway. He wanted to wait until fall to take visits, Stanford doesn't want him to take one, so he's basically gathered all the information he wants at this point.

On the second point, the amazing atmosphere Saturday and the win was the best possible contrast with Stanford's opener. Betcha Kelly texted him and Cornelius this tweet.

That's so damn weak. Did it fill up later?

If Stanford isn't filling out their stadium at this point after all the recent success they have had, aside from marquee matchups, then they never will. Gotta feel like scrimmages. No crowd to hype you up and intimidate - sad.

Why doesn't Stanford want Rouse to visit?

Why doesn't Stanford want Rouse to visit?

The story that Stanford gives recruits is that we would rather you visit when we can spend more time with you ... blah blah blah

While this may be true, the fact that the game atmosphere sucks certainly has to be part of the equation.

Yes, they intentionally push visits to after the season. They blame admissions and have a lot of other excuses. The truth is that their game day atmosphere is embarrassing, and they have a very effective dog and pony show after the year is over where they've been very successful closing on prospects.

Stanford simple does not have the fan base to fill their stadium, makes for boring Saturdays on the farm.

I did my undergraduate in the Bay Area and now live in Southern California. Despite my proximity to the school, I can only think of a couple/few occasions that I have encountered a Stanford fan. I am not exaggerating.

^This. Stanford has a national student body. Classes don't start for 3 weeks. Barely any student from East Coast and midwest will be on campus two to three weeks early. Come on guys!

Most of their students don't go to the games even when they're on campus though.

Scheduled an UV to Stanford for this weekend. As I said before, I’ll go with the last visit, Stanford wins. Gross.

Lol directly in Stanford's face.

They break protocol and get Rouse to UA for SC... literally the only time Stanford's stadium will be over half full all season. Lucky for them, SC fans wear red becuz they will be 2/3's of the attendees.

I would have rather died before rooting for SC in the not so distant past but I root for them vs Stanford every year now. I hate them, would rather play some combo of Rice, Northwestern, Vandy every year instead.

I hope JT Daniels goes for 500yd/5TD's and M Steep has 300 yds.

What’s the excuse for the other 3/4 of the stadium that is empty?

What’s the point of an ND prediction for a kid who has so many Stanford indicators, the week before he takes his official on USC weekend?

I’d still give 3:1 odds on Stanford.

I believe Brewster just changed his cb from Stanford to ND

That's a new one. There were just 6 last night.

The point in Rowe's case is he's someone who knows Rouse well & no longer has a dog in the fight so his pick is educated and unbiased. I believe Brewster also covered Rouse back in the spring in regards to his Northwestern visit. He's located at the 247 Mothership in Nashville so he'd be getting good intel you'd think.

I think it's a toss up but if you do a checklist of indicators however, ND looks better than I feel.

This is one of those rare instances where the CB to watch is Loy's. When he errs, he typically errs on the side of ND. Until he changes his CB, I'm going to assume its Stanford.

Optimistic as ever about the Irish's chances, but has seen recruitment's like these pan out in different ways, so he's not changing his CB

When did Loy CB Rouse to Stanford? It doesn't show on his profile.

Also of note:

In his "Final Two" tweet, the comments are 60-2-1 in favor of the Irish and he has Derek Hamilton and Jacob Lacey tweeting at him in favor of the Irish of course. Even got a neutral tweet from Isaiah Rutherford's Dad who met Rouse's family on the visit. This is important because he pays attention to his tweets and interacts in them. He retweeted tweets regarding the "Final Two" 11 times so he's reading it all and taking it in.

Here is a crazy thought: Do you think they would take Rouse and Vimahi, knowing that Vimahi will be gone for 2 years potentially and they can possibly move Rouse to D?

I'm not trying to be argumentative. I think the visit clearly established that Rouse really likes ND and is extremely enthusiastic about it.

But I expect him to be blown away by Stanford too.

So I won't think we have enough information to make a prediction for ND before he goes on his official, unless we are hearing some reason that ND offers something that Stanford doesn't (faith, tradition, ability for family to drive). I.e., "I am really glad that ND checked all the boxes, because I prefer to stay closer to home..."

I'm not saying Stanford automatically beats ND in recruiting head-to-heads--I think most kids are better off at ND. I'm saying I expect them to beat us for aspiring cardiologists from Sidwell Friends.

Partly yes, they'd be okay taking Vimahi too because they know he'll slot in two years down the road. I don't think Rouse playing D factors into it though (247 is down, so I can't remember exactly what Loy said) https://247sports.com/college/notre...Irish-coming-out-of-official-visit-121471558/

I hope not. Sign Foskey for that bidness. Rouse is the next NPF and Austin Jackson.

I like Vimahi as a player but a two year mission causes problems with roster management come '22 going forward.

ND has a chance to land a Joe Moore winning line in one class:

LT = Rouse
LG = Olmstead
OC = Correll
RG = Carroll
RT = Kristofic

and could follow that up with another monster haul in '20:

LT = Pyne - Gentry - Christ - N Nelson
LG = Tucker - Mayo - Bennett - Feeney
OC = Skoronski - Felter - Metcalf - D Nelson - Fryar?
RG = Raym - Barrett - Lugg - Fincher
RT = Carmody - Zinter - Holtz

I think Vimahi leaving for 2 years is a dynamic that the program doesn't need because they have all the talent they need in house and on the way in the foreseeable future.
