Possibly coming out for Junior Day.

Long, athletic, 6-2 CB. Should be near the very top of ND's board.

Runs sub-11 100m. Big bounce. Very fluid hooper too.

Jr Stats:

13 G ... 25 Tkl ... 2 Int ... 2 FF ... 148 car ... 1323 yds ... 14 TD.

Freebie from 247:

https://247sports.com/college/notre...aining-steam-with-Isaiah-Rutherford-113704679

“I want to get down there for Junior Day. I asked my dad about it. He wants to, but it’s so far, it’s a long trip, all that stuff. I talked to (four-star California junior cornerback Jeremiah Criddell) and he sounded pretty juiced about going out there. That would be awesome if we were both to go out there.”

Reynard Rutherford, Isaiah’s father, played running back at Cal before moving on to the NFL. According to the Top 300 cornerback, Notre Dame is also high on his father’s list.

“My dad, (Notre Dame) was his favorite school growing up,” Rutherford said. “That was his number one school. He is a Notre Dame fan. We watch all the games. My mom, whatever schools offers me, she wants to go see it. She loves Notre Dame. In the summer, she was going on and on about it.”

^If you can't lock this one down...

But Pops also ran for 2000+ yds at Cal. He still loves ND because they play SC and Stanford yearly... who he obviously hates.

*

ND has been recruiting him hard. Without any proof, I'd say he's retweeted more ND edits than anyone in the '19 class.

Another example of hard recruiting that is going unnoticed. In the conversation along with Bama, Oklahoma, and Cal for who is recruiting him the hardest. Talks to Lyght almost every morning. We’ll definitely get an OV.

Best news here is if he's getting the attention then hopefully so is Laitu Latu. All things considered in my book, the best DE in the country.

With USC being his dream school, let's hope this isn't one of those where we look strong and then the bubble gets popped right being NSD.

No mention of them in that article so hopefully that means something.

The bigger news here, imo, is that USC didn't make the cut. This is a winnable recruitment.

Dream school didn't make the cut. I'd like to know the story behind that.

Love my native state, but as an Irish fan I tend to gloss over the CA recruits. For good reason.

Don't buy into the false narrative.

2018 ND-CA Class:
Lamb
Patterson
Bracy

2017 ND-CA Class:
Banks
JGH

2016 ND-CA Class:
Book
McKinley
Morgan

2015 ND-CA Class:
ESB
Sanders

That's more than any state besides FL and unlike FL, the players have been much more dependable than FL. They combine production + current 2 Deep players + very little filler + much less behavioral problems + they're all still here, 5 of the FL guys have transferred or gotten kicked out since the '15 class.

All things considered, CA's just fine.

Ehh. The 2017 and 2018 CA kids are still unproven so we can't say anything about them yet. 2015 and 2016 CA kids have been pretty underwhelming. Sanders wasn't really anything other than a return guy, McKinley and Morgan have been nonexistent, ESB was soft and didn't attempt to catch anything that wasn't thrown at his chest. Although, Book has shown that he can lead Notre Dame to victories against quality competition.

I think they should recruit a CA kid if he's a good fit for the university, not just the football team. I like that the staff had focused more on GA than FL; I hope they can do that with CA, maybe they can turn their focus on WA.

This narrative on ESB is getting a little ridiculous. He had almost 1500 yds and 13 tds in 2 seasons. That’s pretty darn good. He didn’t live up to expectations his junior year, after a really good sophomore campaign, but he was still productive.

I wish ND could get 1500/13 out of every WR their So/Jr years. Don't you. Instead of trying to throw ESB under the bus for what he wasn't, you should be thankful for what he was... because no one else they had was better. And this is coming from me, a guy who saw him in person during HS and would have bet against him being as good as he was. To me, he over achieved based on where he was as a HS recruit.

As per Book and McKinley, they are your #2's at their position so they are doing their job. You may not like McKinley's contribution to this point but he's finally in a place where he can compete. DJ Morgan might just end up a ST / depth guy for 4 years and GT out. At least he hasn't been caught with a gun, weed, blow, pills, hookers up to now. Like it our not, ND needs guys like DJ to just do their part and keep their noses clean off the field.

Lastly the jury is still out on 2017 & 18?

Not on '17 it isn't. Banks and JGH are in the mix right now. JGH already got primetime snaps as a true Fr. Banks is the 1st or 2nd guy of the bench on OL and projects to be a starter in '19 or '20.

Technically, the jury's still out on all 2018 players but the RKG factor seems to be high in the CA '18's much higher than some of the notorious FL hauls in the recent past.

Well if the cost to get Book and JGH is a final game in Cali very year, I would gladly have these recruits play in the pac12 or another team.

The excuse about playing usc at year end, is it helps with Cali recruiting, then I say screw Cali recruits and finish the season at home

Time will tell on our latest few classes of players from CA, but great points.

My sentiment may or may not have been tempered last posting by some 1942 tequila and a bitter taste in my mouth from a town we know as Fresno.

Very, very positive article from 247. May have a decision by the end of the month.
