You know, I wasn't the highest on Takacs originally, but since, I really really like his upside. (Ben Koyack jokes aside.)

Takacs has tremendous size, he moves more than well enough...I can see him panning out like a Troy Niklas who spent his entire career at TE.

Looking at his film, I have often wondered why it is so difficult for ND to complete passes sometimes to its TE/WRs that are tall. Throw it up and jump ball on a 5'11 CB? Gonna tell me a 6'2 LB can outjump a 6'6 TE?

He looks the part but still will need to put on 20-40 lbs to compete in a game.

I’m still stunned that the team doesn’t throw him the ball. They just let high school defense dictate who the ball goes too.

He's been going to camps for some time, I believe. His mom is a Domer; I know the family. Really good people.

This could be very intriguing. His footwork is fantastic, moving forward. Don't know how well he sits back, though. Also don't know how well he punches.

It would be interesting to see how well/quickly he could adjust to being heavier.

I certainly hope that is not in the cards for GT. Turning big TE's into OT's is for the poors, that's MACation material... or IU, like they did with Concord's Jason Sprigg's. Of course if Kelly talks HH into creating Joe Staley 2.0, I'm on board.

TE George Takacs — The Florida native hasn't really had too many opportunities to make plays in this setting, but he runs clean routes and for the most part, has caught the ball well. He did have a few drops, including what should have been an easy touchdown during 7-on-7 play, but all in all, Takacs has been solid.

Love his size, frame and upside at the next level. He can do everything Durham Smythe does and will be a solid contributor in South Bend at the worst. Not a lot of flash, but he's about as good as an all-around tight end as you'll find this cycle.

He was certainly someone I can see BK having wanted to bring over in the same role. Bech as the pass catcher and Takacs in his current role.

I can see Staes needing a year. Guy needs to be physical to maximize his skill set and could use a Balis year. Plus his competition was not strong. Raridon with ACL injury looming. We could see the TE room next year be just a healthy (knock on wood) version of this year with the off-season being huge for Bauman/Evans/Berrong.
