Visiting for the Spring Game.

Way under the radar kid who's completely undervalued. Best CB in the state.

36 Tkls and 10 PBU's along with some work at WR for about 200yds and 2 TD's.

Plays for the #3 program in the state year in and year out.

Has officially run an 11.12 100m. A nice big CB to have for match ups and red zone but looks to be better suited as a FS.

Originally from Atlanta, older brother played CB at Idaho.

Probably means he has a lot of growth left in front of him. Again, he's in the group of DB's that I think we need to pick one of, offer, and get a commitment from. Whichever the staff thinks is the best fit, for what they want.

No idea if ND is still recruiting him or not.

Ruth Robbins with his first CB to Washington. I really like this kids film and his track measurables but ND has too many swing DB's right now and as fast as he is, I think it's a toss up if he's a CB or FS longterm for the Irish. Washington will figure it out.

One thing I know is, if he goes to UDub with Pete K and Jimmy Lake, he'll be in good hands. Jimmy Lake's the best on the field DB coach in the business.

I would've like to see an offer. I think there is a lot to work with.

I think they have to go after pure CB's, no swing DB's. I really like Hampton but I'd take Donte Burton, Telly Plummer and Erick Hallet or (Erick Hallet type) and call it a class.

ND has too many safeties right now even with Tranquill and Morgan being moved to the LB's.

I'd be happy with that. Hoping we can get Burton when he visits in July. Sounds like we are running at the top without a visit, it'd be nice to get him. IMO, he's the best cover CB we have a shot at.

1. Have you watched his film?

2. Of who we have a shot with, who's a better coverage CB?

No, I haven't. But scouts and coaches have, and neither are giving him any love based on his rankings and offers.

I just have a hard time understanding how this can be the best shot at landing a corner for Notre Dame, the year after they don't sign any, and in a year where they have none committed.

These are dark times, dark times indeed.

.

Would those be the same scouts that R&R'd 5 of the 9 Pro Bowlers as 2 stars?

I'll trust Elko for now cuase he's the guy who took this All ACC safety (as a redshirt freshman) right out from under ND's noses in Fort Wayne.

One of my favorite responses when discussing recruiting. Giving zero thought to what Crusader posted above, classic.

I guess it's in the eye of the beholder. Do I think this CB class will be great, no I don't. But I'd bet when we look back on this class, Elko and Company will have a found a couple of guys that at least contribute to a quality defense. I'm not entirely sure most people realize how much effort they are putting in to finding the right guys. Because the "cold hard facts" are, there are 3 star CB's out there, that will be really good players in college. We now have a DC that's taking the time to find them. And yes, I do think Burton can be a really good CB. Exceptionally quick feet, fluid hips, good change of direction. He lacks ideal size for the position, which probably limits his NFL upside, but he's plenty big to play CB in college.

FWIW, look up the recruiting rankings of Clemson and Washington's starting DB's last year.

I'll jump in here and just say that I'll trust anything that Elko and Lea have to say over any other coach and talent evaluator. I have a friend from HS, who coached Jessie Bates, and has gotten to meet Elko & Lea on more than a few occasions. He told me they're phenomenal as coaches, and they know exactly in what they are looking for. Some kids may not have prototypical size and or height, however he said they take some of the other intangibles that a kid has to offer. As Lucky alluded to, look at Clemson's starting defensive secondary last year. They weren't all world coming out of HS.

#1 criteria.........Do they make plays?
#2 criteria.........Do they make plays
#3 criteria.........size and speed
#99 criteria........how many stars?

To add to that look at the rankings of Georgia's starting secondary for 2017:

Malkom Parrish- 4 star
Dominick Sanders- 3 star #68 at position
Deandre Baker- 3 star #64 at position
Aaron Davis- No stars, walk-on.

Surprisingly Davis is probably the best of the four now.

Just got a CB from an Oregon analyst for the Ducks today.

Ruth Robbins put one in for Washington last month.

*** And now he switched it to Foggy. ***

Heading over to see Hampton's Centennial squad take on St Thomas Aquinas (FL).

Centennial is #3 in AZ, STA is #3 in the country.

Wow. Centennial won 12-0. Sloppy game. STA probably had 15 penalties.

Dominique Hampton is a legit corner, not just a future safety playing CB in HS. He had no problem staying right over any of STA's 5 or 6 DI WR's. Effectively ended the game picking off 3*/'19 Curt Casteel's pass to Elijah Moore (4*/UGA Commit) .

Unless there was a grade issue, ND made a mistake not offering when he visited for the B&G Game.

Two names to follow with ND in the future:

Daniel Carter RB STA. '19/4* Has 30 offers already. Stud. Offer immediately.

Jaydin Young DB Centennial. No rankings, no profile pages but 100% guaranteed P5 prospect. He's the younger brother of Nebraska's starting LB, Dedrick Young. Offer immediately.
