The more I look at his film the more I think how underrated this kid is and it reminds me of what Tommy Zbikowski was coming out of high school. A dual threat QB / safety / athlete. Zibby was 6-1, 190, Nelson is 6-2, 180.

He's also the PG for a Top 10 Nationally ranked basketball team

Plays against a good Detroit schedule which includes St Mary's, De La Salle & Brother Rice in conference and MLK out of conference so take that into consideration when you see him cutting through and running away from those athletes.

As far as an offer list, he looks to be right in ND's target area.

Lastly, it seems he has a big interest in ND. He unofficialed to UMass and SC. He only went to one MSU game besides that.

Has reported continued ND communication in recent interviews too.

want him to give Michigan a look but I doubt it. Believe he's a big Sparty fan and a legacy.

"They like me as a safety," Nelson said. "They definitely think that I could play there. They said that they want to get to know me, which was maybe the biggest part of the visit ... Me getting to come down and see their practice and us trying to build and kind of create a better relationship where they knew what kind of person I was like and what it would be like for me to play there under them."

"They said they are probably going to take two cornerbacks and three safeties this classes," Nelson added. "Coach Lyght and [defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder] said that they see me as a free safety. Coach VanGorder didn't compare me specifically to anyone at Notre Dame but he said that I played like some of the safeties now. So it was good to hear what they thought of me as a player and a person."

"Coach Lyght said that they are going to have a meeting with the coaching staff soon and kind of decide what's going to happen with me," Nelson said. "They said that they really like me but they just wanted to get to know me before they offered me and get to know what kind of person that I was like. They don't want to offer me just because these other schools have offered me."

"It will definitely have a huge impact. Notre Dame as a school and a football program is definitely one of the best in the country. It would make me make some decisions and kind of narrow things down to the point where I'm ready to take visits and eventually make a commitment," Nelson said.

I am not sure I would agree he is underrated. He doesn't have great athletic traits and is ultra skinny.

You watch Grant Delpit or CJ Avery then watch Scott Nelson and there is a significant difference.

I'm getting that Ben Humphrey's feeling all over again. smh

Lot of B1G programs think ND's missing out. OV'd to Wisco and Iowa already, NW, MSU and PSU ahead.

This is the type of guy ND can swoop in on late, there was little doubt from earlier interviews and visits he had ND at the top of his list. I would have never cut this guy totally loose, hopefully ND didn't either. Could be a solid fall back if ND exhausts their list of high/mid - 4* safeties they keep trying to get to campus like Delpit, Hunter and now Wright.

Trying to back channel for a GT here.

Would have 2 years to play and he should be 100% being a year away from his ACL.
