Son of ND All American & Pro Bowler Tim Grunhard. Grandson of ND All American Pole Vaulter, Jim Harrington and Great-Grandson of ND Pole Vaulter and world record holder, Paul Harrington who was coached by Knute Rockne.

HS teammate of Jafar Armstrong... a big reason why Jafar came to ND.

Currently "listed" as the 2nd string OC on the latest depth chart, has played in at least 3 games, played very well vs FSU. Came in with Josh Lugg and played with the rest of the starters mid way through the 4th. Then anchored the full second string on the last possession.

Bush-pushed Tony Jones for a 15 yard gain. I'll need to find that. *HERE -> https://youtu.be/holMcwGg7Ec?t=8173

I believe if he'd been 6-4, he would have been one of the most recruited OC's in the country.

Built this profile because he reeks of the kind of PWO who gets a scholarship at some point.

Also to ask, is he really the 2nd string OC right now or is it still Trevor Ruhland like we thought and just not listed as such because he's sharing RG with Kraemer? I know we all thought Trevor Ruhland was #2 but all the Depth Charts now say otherwise.

This could have serious ramifications on Ruhland coming back for a 5th if so.

I believe Ruhland would still be the guy at center next year but Grunhard could force a competition if he continues to develop and impress in practice and mop up duty.

Ruhland not listed as the number 2 center probably has more to do with Ruhland being the first guy in at any of the interior OL spots and the injury to Bars and the shuffling around of Banks, Kraemer, and Ruhland probably made them list Ruhland as a guard instead of the number two center. Also probably forced Ruhland to practice at guard opening up second team center reps for Grunhard.

That's my uninformed guess.

I edited my post after seeing Ruhland as #3 center haha. I would think every other OL spot will be locked up next year since every position has a starter coming back except center. At which point it would just be Grunhard and Ruhland battling for the center job. And I would guess it would be Ruhland's to lose but maybe Grunhard can push him.

The more I think about it the more interested I am in this situation.

Gonna need to get some professional advice.

Anyone wanna ask their expert analysts at 247 or Rivals?

Actually I could see Hainsey, Patterson and possibly Dirksen getting some consideration at C.

And that's potentially what Zeke Correll was being brought in for too... at least when it was HH calling the shots.

Hainsey and Patterson I've heard as maybes, Never heard Dirksen's name thrown in there though.

I made up Dirksen as a potential candidate as he may be the best player next year just based on development and he is the perfect size to play Center

I thought they really like Patterson at tackle, specifically Quinn loves him at tackle.

Didn’t Correll commit to Quinn? He committed 5-6 months after Quinn was OL Coach. When he committed he said the plan was to start at C and see if he can win the job.

Interesting note on the depth chart. Colin Grunhard is listed as the back up Center.

Is it possible that it's true or is it ND's way of stuffing the dc? Ruhland is the first OG off the bench and in the past was also the first OC off the bench too but there was a game last year Grunhard relieved Mustipher early in the 4th. I asked if he was #2 OC on Twitter and his mom said, YEP!

If this guy was 6-3/6-4, he'd have been on scholarship, a 4* IL coming out of HS. At 6-0.5/285, he's a cast iron stove.

Is it possible it's one of those things where he's the #2 that's coming in for the 4th quarter when ND is up comfortably, and Ruhland is the guy that plays if the game is in doubt?

Someone should update his header and put him up with the scholarship players.

Will a Mod put him in the pinned area up top with his teammates please?

With J Smith's news today, got me wondering about were some guys will play next.

Grunhard's career has been very interesting. At his size, he's held off a lot of guys on the depth chart and earned a scholarship in the meantime.

He'll graduate this year with two to play. Will be very interesting to see where he chooses to go next.

Just realized he and Jafar went to HS together in Kansas. They weren't going to see the field at ND but would have a good chance to start for the jayhawks.
