Was just about to post this. Plenty of red flags on this one. Decommits from FSU twice after stating something along the lines of only decommitting if the whole FSU staff was fired and the school burnt down...and then decommitted a few months later. Now this?

Bama fans and some others might try to say this is a coach overreacting, but coaches don't simply do that to a kid they know has a future. Sounds like the kid has always been a pain, and his "I don't care" attitude in a game where his team was playing for the district title was the final straw.

I'm sure he'll get a chance. Hope he grows up.

If he doesn't grow up, hope he goes to FAU..

Sure. I would like to see him grow up and get on the right track. Plenty of talent. But if he doesn't, seeing him pop Joey Freshwater in the lip on the sidelines would be must see tv.

LK's story is a fun one isn't it. I wonder if he's learned lol. He if F'ing entertaining if nothing more. Can't wait till he gets his next big job somewhere.

"According to the police report, Cowan is accused of punching Jesse Ray, 26, in the face at High Tide bar off the Strip early on the morning of June 23."

“Each of us has a responsibility to represent the University of Alabama in a first-class way, and failure to meet those standards can’t be tolerated. We wish VanDarius the very best in the future,” Alabama head coach Nick Saban said in a statement Monday.


We all know if he had just gone to strip club, gotten drunk, had a lap dance or two, and mouthed off to everyone around him, he'd still be on the team. Yet Coach Saban (really his publicist or lawyer) is spinning it like he got kicked off the team for not "represent[ing] the University of Alabama in a first-class way."

I wonder if they considered saying, "Cowan was dismissed for his alleged failure to respect a fellow human being's private space."

You don't know Saban very well then. While players at every school partake in the bar scene, smoke a few, frequent the occasional strip club, escort services, etc., it typically lands them in the dog house and not kicked off the team. And being off the team at Bama is probably better than being in the dog house. And few players rise above Saban's dog house - K. Drake is one example of doing it allbeit at the expense of limited playing time for two years and relegation to the practice squad. A simple "he is no longer with the team" would have sufficed. That's the standard answer given by most schools since everyone already knows what usually gets players dismissed.
