MSU has owned Traverse City area for recruiting in recent times. It's not a huge pool but they generally will have at least 1 D1 player per year and sometimes more.

Players can and do come from anywhere, LArry Bird is from French Lick but when I see a 6-5, 300 pounder pancaking a 5-11, 200lb DT, I get quickly under-whelmed. I'll play the percentages and stick to areas where players come from in mass and I can look at tape of them against like competition.

With that said, I wish Mr. Lukusa an injury free career, 4 W's against Michigan, a degree and two L's against the Irish. I'll also drop another Michael Alves plug right here.

Now, like Mr. Wonderful says, Mr. Lukusa... you're dead to me. Time for the unsubscribe button.

Lukusa's commitment brings Michigan State's total to 11 for the 2016 class and all but two have come since Huber Heights (Ohio) quarterback Messiah deWeaver committed on April 22.

Holy crap! 9 in 3 weeks?

Projected starter Thiyo Lukusa quits Michigan State football team

“I really haven’t been in love with football since I was in high school,” Lukusa said via phone. “It’s been awhile, probably since I was a sophomore or junior. I went home for Christmas and had a great time with my family Up North -- just being away from football and doing other things and working out and playing basketball and running.

“I had been thinking about not playing for a long time. I finally just decided that I’m gonna go through with it and kind of weather the storm, whatever it brings.”

Meanwhile, Michael Alves who I compared to and preferred to Lukusa had started A LG for UCLA since his RS Freshman year at a Q like 6-5, 325. And he's Academic All Conference to boot .

Thankfully ND does a much better job at identiying these no brainier prospects now a days. Either Rees Sr is worth his weight in gold or Kearney and Peloquin are in that Cox van parked in front of my house
