New to IE - 1st post. I am 42 located in Texas(yes its hell with the fan base down here). I think think this is the wave of the future as far as recruitment/announcing is concerned. I think he will be a welcomed addition to the OL, maybe the butt of a few jokes.....and I bet he puts a few DL players on their butts as well. I'm not trying to be a negative Nancy here & I hope I am 100% wrong. However, I have a bad feeling that his recruitment ISN'T over. Again, I HOPE I AM WRONG, but it kind of feels like that Barnett kid that plays QB. He was all ND and then he wasn't. I'm not comparing the two as far as anything other than they appear to be all ND at first. I am happy that he committed! I just hope he is 100% committed to ND for the next 5 to 6 years.

It's like Miami just hands out free reasons to hate them. I find this ironic, because pointing out how much of a "Tool" Parker is seems much more toolish in this situation, since what Parker did wasn't really toolish. Fuck this kid and fuck Miami.

I agree with Patchan. A lot of these kids let the recruiting attention go to their heads and this is a classic case of it.

I don't think Scott was lying. He's definitely caught a lot of heat for it and a lot of people have called him out. I have seen maybe a handful of people who thought that was cool.Not sure whoever was advising him thought that was a good idea.

There is nothing inherently good or bad about Parker's verbal commitment video. It just reflects the difference between today's high school student and the high school student of previous generations. You-tube videos play a prominent part in the culture of today's high school student. This video was nothing out of the ordinary. It was Parker's way of saying I'm taking some serious commitment and dedication to Notre Dame. I kind of liked the video myself.

kids get to enjoy the process, and we have said many times on these boards we would as do it too. crowell had the puppy thing. many starting doing the hat ceremony and switching hats. kids hold huge press conferences, go back to former schools, or commit on national tv. we have turned the whole recruiting thing into an attempt to top another announcement. i don't care what other people think of his announcement - even if i thought it was a little weird. he got a chance to make a statement about himself and the school he is choosing. enjoy the moment and get to work parker!

I didn't much care for it. It wasn't toolish at all. I thought it was a bit over the top, and his endline was corny, but nothing toolish about it. As for Patchan, he can bite my shiny metal ass. Even if it was, keep your stupid mouth shut. I didn't see any recruit acting like this with Biggie's big reveal.

It just makes Patchan out as an even bigger tool, since he thought it was necessary to actually say that to a member of the media, knowing full well that it'll be leaked out.

You're among a minority on here. It wasn't "toolish" in the slightest. It was pretty corny and overall, not that good of a video, JMO, but this isn't just trash talking. Trash talking would be when Malik tweeted that we'd "get it done" and then Darron Lee responded "we'll be waiting". That's fine. This was done in poor taste and I severely hope Patchan gets in next year, so our OL can plant his sorry ass on the ground over and over and over. ND is full of tools, and they get the work done.

Miami still has a football team? As for the video, times have definitely changed. Not the biggest deal, didn't strike me any particular way. I do like that the kid seems to be nasty and have a bit of an edge. I think every team needs those guys. I'm glad he's Irish and hope the next video we see is his highlight video with Mel Kiper saying why he's the best OL in the draft.
