Said that he absolutely locked down his side of the field playing corner and did very well in press coverage.

Considering this dude is a 6'2 DB, and given our major need for tall DB's, on top of the fact that Julian is related to a current ND player, I can understand why Kelly wants to get in sooner with this guy.

Recruiting Week In Review - Irish Sports Daily

Troy Warner, CB, 6-2, 185, Mission Hills High School, San Marcos, CA received his third scholarship offer last week when Notre Dame threw its hat in the ring for his services.
“Coach (Bill) Elliott called my head coach and he told me I had everything they were looking for,” Warner recalled. “He told me he wanted to go ahead and offer me a scholarship to go play there. They wanted a really versatile guy. They wanted somebody who could play corner and could play safety if they needed it. They said I had the length, size and athleticism to come in and contribute right away.”
Warner was very enthusiastic about the Irish offer.
“I was really excited and just humbled because Notre Dame is a really big school,” he shared. “It’s a really good academic school as well, which is really important. I just thought it was a really big time offer, so I respected that.”
In addition to Notre Dame, Warner has been offered by Boston College and BYU. He’s also hearing from a number of Pac 12 and ACC schools including USC, UCLA, Oregon and Duke. He’s already taken a couple of unofficial visits and expects to take more in the future.
“I did go up to one of UCLA’s practices last spring,” he remembered. “I’ve kind of been around that campus and I’ve been around BYU’s campus as well. This summer I’m pretty sure I’ll be taking a visit up to Notre Dame to check them out. Maybe as more offers start to come through, I’ll start planning more visits. Hopefully I can get out to Oregon as well.”
When he makes it to South Bend, he knows what he’ll be looking for.
“I really just want to get an idea of the environment and how the players are and basically just how the campus looks and how everything really feels,” he said. “I’m looking for a place that overall feels like home, feels like I could easily make friends and be able to contribute as soon as possible and come in to play right away.”
Warner plans to enroll early so he hopes to make his decision sometime this summer. He sees early enrollment as benefiting him in learning the system of the school he chooses.
“I’ll be able to start learning the plays quicker and faster,” he explained. “Hopefully I’ll be able to show them what I have to offer by just going out and practicing with the other guys.”

Grew up liking Oregon and now that they offered he said they are at the very top of the list. Will visit there April 1st. He told Rivals that he still intends to visit ND and NW as well as other schools. I hope he doesn't make an early commit and we can get the visit.

"The coaches just expressed that they're not going to stop recruiting me even though I'm committed and everything, and that they really want me there because they think I can make a big impact," Warner said this past weekend at the B2G 7-on-7 tournament in East Chicago.

"They're polar opposites," he added when asked about the differences between Notre Dame and Oregon. "They both have their own unique thing going for them, but it's hard to match what I felt when I visited Oregon … It was real cool at Notre Dame, there's a lot of tradition."

warner has been described as a NON oregon kid...which bodes well for us...not sure why he chose initially but that rivals spoke w/ him about how different byu and oregon were back when he committed
