medical issue doesnt mean he "un-enrolls" from the college. If he is having medical issues, why not take a leave of absence or something... Unless it is serious enough that he cannot play football again.

It can't be serious if his father expects him to be cleared to play in 2-3 months....

Just sounds like it was a well planned exit strategy to remain eligible for this season.....

It could become serious though if not take care if it was minor. But nothing he could have sat out of practice til he was better. Poor excuse to leave school more to this then what is beingtold.

Something's going on behind the scenes and we don't know. Whether thats on the part of Tee or ND is what remains to be seen.

And what happens if a kid doesn't come on an official? Or say it's somebody like Elmer-- he verbals at the beginning of his junior year of high school, but doesn't decide to official until mid-January of his senior year a couple weeks before signing day (I know Elmer isn't doing this, but for argument sake), and then the medical staff won't clear him? That's A LOT of wasted time and effort on the staff's part, then leads them to scramble like mad to get another kid in. Or what if the medical staff makes a mistake (as we all know, doctors are infallible and never make mistakes) and won't clear a kid...then goes on to UM, USC, or wherever, whips ND's @ss for four years, becomes an all-American, national champion, top-5 draft pick, and NFL hall of famer?

I would rather have the staff scramble looking for another player the contiue with some thats not going to get cleared.

I'm sorry, man, I don't really know what you're getting at nor why you're quoting yourself. "Medical issues" happen to all sorts of people at all stages of life-- not just ND football players. Did BC and/or their doctors screw BC when their best football player had cancer? Did an ND recruit and/or doctors screw ND by tragically dying? Did a Rutgers player and/or doctors screw Rutgers by getting paralyzed? Does the Army screw a family every time a soldier dies or is injured? Or is that soldier screwing his family by dying or getting injured? The fact is, health related problems arise when they arise. What if ND's medical staff gave Tee 5 different physicals over the last 12 months and this popped up just now? Should ND's medical staff ANTICIPATED Wenger receiving multiple concussions over his time at ND, and then not clearing him to play at a later date? Should Gonzaga have never given Adam Morrison a scholarship because he was diabetic...and it COULD possibly be an issue down the road for Gonzaga's basketball team?

Yes, that's it. Set up 65 physicals the night of the USC game. How could that possibly hurt the recruiting efforts? I hope all ends up well w Tee, he was going to be a great one.

That's an NCAA violation, they're high school students when they take officials not enrolled as members of a university student body.

So you're saying the NCAA would put the rights of a High School student above those of message board posters who will feel pissed-off if a signee is later determined to have a medical condition? No wonder everyone thinks the NCAA is screwed-up

To those who say this is some devious plan by Tee to "get out" of Notre Dame: Why?
Yeah, there were the USC flirtations late in recruiting, but the guy has showed no signs of being anything but solid since he showed up on campus. By all reports he was glad to be there. He was going to be contending for a starting spot at a major program. Not to mention the great education and all.
Now, in leaving, he's faced with significant question marks and probably (another) year of not playing. Unless he goes the JUCO route which carries various risks of its own. Whatever happened, whether it's health or grades or something else, he's the one who really loses in all this. Which is too bad because he seems like a good kid.

To start with ND would have committed multiple recruiting violations as Tee wasn't a member for the UND student body 12 months ago, was he?

Really, not impossible but very close? It's not even improbable as it's happened several times at ND alone that I'm aware of. Now mulitply that by a couple of hundred colleges in all the divisions of the NCAA. Every year seemingly healthy athletes in practice, in a game, or after a game, collapse. Some live and some die.

All had one or more physicals which didn't detect a problem. Were all the medical staffs incompetent? Every day in the non-athletic world people die of congential conditions which were asymptomatic. Lots of them have had physicals too but physical don't find everything.

In '95 Tom Krug was backup to Powlus. When Powlus had his arm broken against Navy, Krug finished out the season. Big strong kid, 6-5, 210, great arm. He was labeled the 8 Million Dollar QB because he won the games that got ND bowl eligible. The next spring in the B&G game he sprained his neck. The doctor had x-rays taken although there were no serious systems nor complaints. Turned out Krug had a congential neck problem. His C-1 was connected to his skull and C-2 and C-3 were fused. He had two year of eligibilty left but doctors told him not to play sports again. His career was over. He had 3 years of college physicials as well as several years of HS physicals, he had no symptoms in 20 years despite playing QB and Safety in HS. He was fortunate to have sprain which led to the x-rays which found a problem before harm was done. Today's he a judge in Florida.
