Ranking the possible destinations IMHO:

1. Penn State
2. UCLA
3. Ole Miss
4. Arizona State
5a. Illinois
5b. Kansas
6. Washington State

You're missing UNC.

I'd drop Ole Miss down to a 4a, 4b, 4c. Nobody outside of the alumni know they have a program unless there's a Manning playing QB and that only happens every 20 or 30 years. If it weren't for Div 1aa opponents and the fodder from the Sun Belt Conference which should be Div 1aa Ole Miss could go 1-11, depends on who's worse in the Egg Bowl.

Oxford hasn't been a destination since Johnny Vaught worked his magic in the 50's and 60's. From '59 to '62 they only LOST 3 games in 4 years. Under Oregeron 3 WINS was a typical season. Today Oxford is a way station for coaches on the way up (Tuberville) or more likely on the way down (Cooper, Sloan, One and Dunn, Cutcliffe, Orgeron, Nutt).

Other fans talk about National Championships, Conference Championships, Heisman's, or Rankings, Ole Miss fans say, "Have you ever seen a lovelier place than The Grove?"

Word around twitter is that Mike Sherman is out at A&M. Very attractive job considering the recruiting territory, history, and buzz over going to the SEC.

You guys think Texas might go after him? I would imagine that would be a hard one to turn down.

According to ESPN, Nebraska defensive coordinator Carl Pelini has been hired as the new head coach at FAU.

I bet that Mike Leach wishes he didn't sign WSU. This would be a perfect place for him.

I don't know. The pac 12 defenses doesn't offer him the same challenges the SEC defenses would. Also, not sure how much the aggies would have been interested in him..

Reports are the Sumlin has now turned down ASU since the A&M job opened, and is strongly rumored to be heading there now (he was a former assistant there). Good hire for them IMO all things considered, but I honestly don't know if I agree with the initially firing of Sherman.

Tulane just hired Curtis Johnson, Saints WR coach today. Interesting hire. He spent a lot of time at the college level and is a really good recruiter, especially in the NOLA area. Recruited Faulk to San Diego and Ed Reed to Miami. He's a huge New Orleans guy, raised in the area, and Sean Payton, Colston, Moore, Meachem and other Saints were at his press conference today. He has zero HC experience, but has time in college and has been involved in winning programs throughout. The hire has gotten a lot of positive comments from Payton, Brees, Faulk and others. Also, LSU / Saints fans on Tiger Droppings, mostly think it's a good hire. Unlike delusional fellow Tulane alums who thought we'd get Leach or Rodriguez.

I think it's probably a good hire and he will be able to do well recruiting Louisiana and the kids who can make it at Tulane and play ball.

idk if this name has been mentioned, but look for a guy like kliff kingsbury (offensive coordinator at Houston/former texas tech QB) to start getting a sniff at some mid major's once things start to domino down.

Fresno State fired Pat Hill? Is nobody's job safe? I figured that man was a legend to Fresno State.

Maybe we should pick him up to be part of our staff. I bet he could challenge for recruits in the L.A. area, his hometown.

i think jim mora jr has the right kind of demeanor for the college game. i wouldnt count that hire as a homerun, but a solid stand up double for sure. i think he could kill it on the west coast.

it would take him awhile to get going imo...inexperienced in recruiting and familiarity with the college game.
